The Cosmos Is Collapsing

UPDATE: I am commenting on all blogs but it does not seem to be appearing yet when I go to comment with the same one, it tells me my comment cannot be duplicated – but it isn’t there. If you could help would be fabulous!

Some people have said they are receiving them fine but others say it is in spaam folder – GUYS CHECK SPAM :) I will probably be there! Also does anyone know how to contact wordpress without astarting a forum??? Thank you!

UPDATE: Foodbuzz sharing is still fritzy, hopefullythey will fix it soon :)

On to the post :)

************************************************************************

I am not a space-head, astronomical genius with physics down pat in my head or with the Doppler Effect ingrained in my brain – not matter how much I love watching Big Bang Theory!

No, it is true, I am not BUT I most certainly do know when the universe is folding into itself, when the fabric of time is being ripped and in general, when the cosmos is collapsing.

bruschetta 13
Why? Because I watch Dr Who and have met the Master I did something today which may just change everything. I don’t know what made me do it!
Stop shining that light in my face officer!

I don’t know what happened really, honestly, you have to believe me! It was a casual lazy Saturday, simply lolling around at home when I opened some random magazine. And then it fell out. Called to me, sang to me until I knew I had to make it, feast on it, post about it.

If you must blame anything blame the magazine. It was shameless, and I got hooked. I had to make a split decision and I chose the right one but at a cost.

bruschetta 11
The cosmos collapsed.

I know, it will be in the newspapers, I know I have basically put all those around me in danger but it had to be done. You don’t understand! Let me show you why… please give me a chance – I have no doubts you would have done the same had you been in my position.

*Whispers* I, Choc Chip Uru, lover of all things sweet, chocolatey and full of sugar, made 2 savoury recipes in the same month…

bruschetta 12
Chocolate fainted. Sugar melted (and not into caramel). The world stopped spinning. How will all be right with the world ever again?

Oh yea, if you take a bite ;)

This Bruschetta is a hybrid. Part pizza, part bread and a whole lot of delicious. Melted pizza cheese, a mix of the stunning mozzarella, parmesan and some other cheese I probably can’t pronounce properly. This sits on a bed of delicious olive oil-garlic powder pastes. And is topped by the star.

Roasted Romano Tomatoes.

bruschetta 10
A recipe for roasted tomatoes had me throwing my ice cream cookbook aside. So judge me.

If you could have (and some of you would have) seen the picture of those tomatoes, you would understand. Instead you will have to make do with mine ;)
These tomatoes are soft, slightly charred with a gorgeous aroma which reminds me of being in Italy (leaving out the fact I have never been in Italy :P)

Crusty sourdough, a topping made to kill, life truly does not get any better than this Bruschetta.
The cosmos fell for this bread. And it was worth every minute :)

Just before I give you the recipe, I just want to give a little shout out to Aunty M. I can’t even express how thankful I am to her because she made me the most stunning personalised apron.

IMG_8702Hand done, it is absolutely beautiful and I felt like a princess getting it – Aunty, thank you so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so etc. much, I absolutely absolutely love it!

This sounds absolutely awesome! As much as I love sweets, I just can’t have them as often as I’d like so savory dishes such as this win my attention. Love this and want to try it soon.

Love the smell and the look of this … what a change to all the sweeties and goodies you have given us!!! Love your apron – I had black in the kitchen too and cherry colored trousers.

  4. juanitascocina says:

How did I miss this fabulousness?

I adore roasted tomatoes. Why have I never been a genius like you who makes them into a bruschetta? DELISH! My mouth is watering!

  5. Tandy says:

firstly, your new apron is wonderful! I see foodbuzz is on the fritz – which means a lot of deleting when it finally comes back on line properly GRRRRRRRR And, your comment came through on my blog as needing approving i.e. pending but I have a new plugin which should mean that next time you comment it will be approved. You can send wordpress an email – all you need to do is follow the help prompts :)

    • Haha isn’t that the truth my friend – if I do not laugh I will cry :P
Thanks for the advice and note my friend, it is pretty frustrating at times :)

      Cheers

  6. Well, CCU… when you bake/cook/make something savory.. it seems just as decadent as your sugar-laden divine sweets:) I love pizza, bread and everything Italian so this is a winner! xo Smidge
ps.. I urge you to contact WordPress via their “contact” email.. they are pretty fast to respond to your inbox!

  7. Uru! I LOVE savory! Chocolate will recover, and sugar will be fine! They are just jealous of these beautiful tomatoes? But how could you resist?! Sweet or savory….I’m hooked! And I LOVE the apron! : )

  8. Lisa says:

LOL..I love how the ‘cosmos are collapsing’ since you made not one, but TWO, savory dishes in a month! Too cute! You not only make beautiful sweets, you also rock the savories! Your bruschetta looks fantastic! Not many better ways to use gorgeous roma’s. Love the pizza spin on it!

  9. Cucina49 says:

I love your specially embroidered apron! I don’t know why, but I can’t get into “Big Bang Theory.” However, I can get behind this bruschetta–they look amazing!

  10. Great apron and what a great idea! Love the bruschetta, and as to the comment problem, that happens to me sometimes, too, and then it just resolves itself. I wish I had a better answer for it!

  11. I love the combo of roasted tom + sourdough! Also, cuuuute apron! I love it =D I planned on getting one awhile back but I never seem to actually wear them :/ also, that’s final, must watch big bang theory (everyone raves about it)

  12. Swathi says:

Brushchetta looks delicious with roasted tomato , sure garlic flavor enhanced everything. I like your personalized apron,

    You are a good baker.

  13. mjskit says:

Oh this bruschetta looks fabulous! Love those roasted tomatoes! What a great apron and such a cute idea! I might just have to copy that idea because I do need a new apron. :)

  14. Nothing wrong with savories; Gotta balance out the sweets to stay inspired. Those tomatoes look -so- luscious, I’m dying to chomp right into those bruschetta. I may just have to make roasted tomatoes alone, though… Not sure I would have the patience to do much more with them once they come out of the oven!

  15. eliotthecat says:

Love your apron. Roasted tomatoes are the best ever! Try halving cherry tomatoes and doing the same. You will love them—they are like candy! And, I got one of your comments just fine and then I found one in spam. ????

  16. Abby says:

Best Aunt ever! I love your apron, and it’s such a thoughtful gift :) those are the best kinds of gifts. Oh girl, you know I can’t stay away from roasted tomatoes. This looks fantastic!

  17. Ruth says:

That apron is adorable! I was thinking how strange it was to see a savoury recipe in your blog (which looks delicious!), sometimes sweet teeth need a bit of salt, am I right?

  18. LinsFood says:

Love, love, love the bruschetta, well done you sweet loving Queen! The roasted veg looks positively divine, yum!
    Well done Auntie M!

  19. Medeja says:

I love Big Bang Theory! Though I have to admit I have missed some parts.. :/ Your bruschetta is unusually healthy :)))) have you abandoned chocolate?!

  20. Veronica says:

Well the cosmos may have collapsed but I think that making this lovely bruschetta set everything right again after the momentary upset of you making a (how dare you) savory dish. ;) BTW, LOVE Dr. Who! I don’t know a lot of fans so it’s nice to meet a fellow fan. Actually, I never would have watched it since I don’t generally like sci-fi or fantasy but my hubby loves it and got me addicted. Anywho, Your brushetta looks amazing and I totally forgive you and THANK you for making it, otherwise I never would have thought of it or tried it as I’m planning to. YUM! And wow, your aunt is amazing! That looks just like your logo! What a treasure!

    • Haha I certainly hope so my friend :P
And I am so glad you converted – I LOVE LOVE LOVE DR WHO :D
I am so glad you enjoyed my friend!
      And she most certainly is!

      Cheers

  21. CCU, this happened to me a couple weeks ago and it drove me crazy. I found your comment in my spam folder, as now I check there regularly. Here’s the email address that you should send a note to about your comments appearing in the spam folders: . At Akismet I first filled out a form at their site, but I didn’t hear back. I kept bugging wordpress until they gave me this support email address. It should work for you! Good luck and feel free to email me if you have any other questions on this issue. I know how frustrating it is.

    • Thank you my friend for your email and all this help, it has been a life saver! I now contacted them and changed my email to be able to again :D
      Thanks again!

      Cheers

  22. You and BAM have a way with bread, tomatoes and olive oil, CCU! This sounds yummy and you’re allowed to deviate from the glorious goodness of chocolate once in a while. Your comments on both my blogs (most recent entries) came through just fine. I think once, several months ago, you came through as spam, but I read your comment and found nothing spammy about it :) Beautiful apron. Aunty did a fine job!

    Keep writing…

    • Oh wow BAM is amazing though, she is certainly in her own Italian class (especially now :D)
Thank you for enjoying this so much my friend! And I am glad at least someone is receiving my comments :P

      Cheers
      Choc Chip Uru

  23. Eva Taylor says:

Your comments are coming through on my blog, CCU, thank you. I will keep an eye out. I think I’ll roast my tomatoes for dinner tonight, thanks for the inspiration.

  24. applec says:

I have the same problem when commenting on some sites. It can be frustrating.
As for the Big Bang Theory – I am SUCH a fan! I have 3 tee shirts: 1 = Bazinga! 2= The no. 73 and the 3rd is a paragraph on a comment bouncing back and sticking to the person who made it but in Big Bang “Sheldon” speak :) I know you know what I mean. :)
The recipe today looks FAB! Love roasted tomatoes.

  25. Ramona says:

Stunning!!! The cosmos are not going to collapse… rather it will open with a choir of angels because your savory dishes are beautiful!! I have the same bottle of granulated garlic from Costco!! :) I love your personalized apron… I wish I had such a talented Aunt. :)

  26. cakewhiz says:

awww.. it was so sweet of your aunt to make you a personalized apron!

and for your bruchetta… i like your spin on it. it’s different than the usual bruchetta i eat at restaurants but i love bruchetta in any way possible…lol

  27. I was also a little worried! THIS HAS NO CHOCOLATE IN IT, WHAT IS GOING ON?!?! Step aside Higgs boson, there is no way you can explain the expansion of our universe when it is clearly folding into itself. Proof? This post.
    Haha, it looks delicious though.

  28. Oh dear. But I am glad you’ve done it and posted this savory recipe. It has me drooling every bit as much as the chocolate ones Uru. LOVE THE APRON! I think your auntie needs to be commissioned for other aprons. I hope Sweet and Crumby is next on her list! ;) This looks divine. Have a great day!

  29. Suzie says:

Love the apron! What a sweet gift. Your bruschetta looks wonderful, I can almost smell and taste it from here. I love bruschetta and I must make some soon! :)

  30. navane64 says:

My, my, I love this savory recipe. The tomatoes are wonderfully flavored and to be served on the bread is nice. This is one recipe I must try and makes a perfect snack or my for my brunch.

  31. Soni says:

I just love Brushetta and can totally imagine the delicious taste of these tomatoes and the cheese together on that crusty bread :) Yumm..

  32. Oh yay! I love your recipe but the apron rocks!!! So, you like Dr. Who? Well, did you get a FB account this weekend? If so, you can see my daughter’s birthday cake from last month – or better yet, you can go to Think Geek FB page where the Tardis cake and my grandson in a bow tie is on the cover photo! Oh yes, my kids are geeks too!

  33. Congratulations on visiting the savory world in your spiffy new apron. The only quibble I have is the garlic powder — I just rub fresh garlic on the bread. The roasted tomatoes look particularly delicious.

  34. Carine says:

    It looks very good!
Regarding the comments, there have been some problems with comments on WordPress lately. Other bloggers made such remarks too and I have myself experienced them. Maybe the cosmos did collapse ;-)
By the way, sorry to be late in congratulating and thanking you for the awards. Will post about that soon.
    Have a wonderful week!

  35. Yum! I love roasted tomatoes :)

And that apron is too cute Uru, you have one amazing Aunt!

Oh and I checked on my blog- your comment went into my spam folder for some strange reason, it’s never done that before! Although it does do that to other commenters on my blog randomly as well. Could just be some weird glitch! I’m sure everyone will check there spam and your comments will appear :)

    • Thank you so much my friend :D
      And yes she definitely is!

I think it was my email which was causing it so I changed it all around :P – I now have the support email so if anything goes on hopefull it will be fine :)
Thanks for the support, I was so stressed at one point!

      Cheers
      Choc Chip Uru

  36. How very special of your aunt to give you such an awesome gift! I know you will treasure it always.
Love your roasted tomatoes – delicious!
Hmm, you never know, you may just bring us savoury dishes every month… :-) Mandy

  37. I’m not sure I understand the problem. Hope they fix it for you. Sometimes I’ve not been able to comment on certain blogs, no matter how hard I try. Tasty! I love the extra light olive oil. I make healthy butter with it. 4 sticks butter, 2 cups olive oil – blend it together and you have something that tastes like butter and spreads like margarine straight out of the refrigerator. We cannot live without it. :)

    • I have been given a support email but have just changed my email and that has fixed it for now so fingers crossed :D
I am so glad you enjoyed the bruschetta my friend! Your healthy butter sounds so addictive!

      Cheers
      Choc Chip Uru

    • Becky says:

I love your new apron. so cute, and personalized, too. which makes it even more special. I have several aprons and wear them all the time, because I’m a messy baker and cook.

I love Bruschetta, and will try roasting the tomatoes, before making it the next time!
