Breaking Fast Like A Boss

I’m going to get real with you guys today. Ok, so I am not fake at all in my other posts but today, I have just got to let it out. Hard hitting, real life observation that I, and basically everyone else in the world, have made.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

You feed me well at breakfast, and I wouldn’t need to eat for the rest of the day until supper. Supper being fruit and milk of course. You feed me well at breakfast and I go out with a spring in my step, a smile actually on my face as opposed to pasted on, and a whole lot more positive vibes resonating from me! :D

Breakfast is the best.

Happy Easter 2014!!!

I love Easter. Really, I truly just love this holiday :)

Christmas is awesome, Diwali is beautiful, but coming from someone who is nicknamed Choc Chip Uru, Easter is my heaven!!!

DSC_0010

If it isn’t already obvious, it is because I am given a 4 day weekend of a holiday to enjoy eating chocolate. Since I am not religious, that is what, on base value, Easter means to me :D

And I have some amazing memories associated with this festival! I mean, when chocolate is involved 24 hours a day for 4 days of the week, how can it not be right?

Bread Can Be Such A… Witch…

Obviously, I meant witch. Gosh, get your mind out of the gutter! ;)

Come on guys, we are keeping this blog G-rated right? Ok, perhaps PG but nothing more, I promise, cross my heart and hope to die, stick a needle in my eye.

Oh dear.
Did I just go all Saw-style, M/MA 15+ on you? Oops… honest mistake ;)

Anyway, let me go back to the topic on hand. Bread. Dough. Yeast. I may have made it, used it, before but honestly, it is the kitchen bad boy.

Moody.
Delicious.
Rebellious.

Eat Breakfast!

Overlooked. Underestimated. Blindsided. Breakfast deserves better don’t you think?

I mean, I am a huge supporter of pancakes for dinner, wrapped in a cosy thick robe in front of the TV with everyone out of the house. BUT, how can that possibly compare to eating pancakes while the morning sun is streaming down your back and naturally keeping the pancakes warm while the birds are talking to you Cinderella style? (also known as chirping)

I am just saying, being in school, I see a lot of people skipping breakfast regularly, though especially on test days because they were studying or because they slept at 3, woke up at 8 and were going to be late.

Perhaps this little party will enlighten you on it…

A Breakfast Introduction To Nutella Baking Week

A big and fat welcome to all of you to my first ever Nutella Baking Week!!! *Applause Machine*

This week, it is obviously all about Nutella. Nutella in all different forms, different dishes and always the star ingredient of whatever dish I make. This is a week to commemorate this great gift Italians have so kindly given to the world.

nutella

I don’t actually have any sponsors or anyone but I would like to say a few words before this week begins to commemorate a few people and their sites that deserve mention due to their wonderful Nutella obsession.

The Monkey Within – Banana Bread #1

I wish to unleash my banana loving spirit (which I believe every human deep down has inherited from our ancestors) by trying to find the best banana bread recipe.

My family find banana bread to be a staple breakfast or snack. We go out – Banana bread. We have a coffee – Banana bread and wow, watch out because when they mix it up, it becomes a fruit and nut bread.

In order to satisfy said family, I decided to find a perfect one which is quick and easy to whip up (despite Australia’s horrendous banana prices). This one was the first one I tried and OBVIOUSLY, I got it from Exclusively Food as my starting point.

You like puff pastry? Yeah me too. You like custard? Well, funny that, so do I! You like icing? Pshaw, why did I even ask!

Well, this vanilla slice recipe gives you the lot. Yea everything oozing out of layers with the prettiest matchstick design we got taught (I guess you now know it is a school recipe).

Scone Meets the Easter Bunny

Actually Written: Term 2 2011

2011 Easter Bunny footsteps have long been cleaned off our patio but the memory of these hot cross buns remain. Perfectly sweet with a
soft bread inner and plump, juicy raisins, this recipe is tops!

We actually made it during a ‘bread making day’ for food tech. I know, my teacher got us out of the mundane classes we all hate to bake bread.
BEST CLASS EVER!

Yes, well, anyway, I recommend trying this recipe. It’s easy, not fast, no definitely not (why else would it take a day!) but the results are worth it.

Also, try mixing up your add-ins a little – chocolate chips (I know you were thinking that, don’t pretend), dried cranberries (a personal favourite) etc.

Who needs to go to France?

Actually Written: 11th September 2011

Last night I was having intense cravings. All I could think was chocolate,
chocolate, chocolate. I know you all are familiar with this craving style. Why
else would you be here if you weren’t?

21

Well, I thought about what I could eat, considering I had just downed 3 pieces of
Jamaica Choc Cheesecake in the afternoon. Forgive me for my gluttony, it was
necessary. So anyway, back to the chocolate craving. I then had a memory
flashback.
