Guest Post #5: Brown Butter Pound Cake

Bonjour mes cheris, get excited for me! After I finish these exams I am wading through right now, half of year 12 will be forever finished and over with! YAY!

Mais non, focus, FOCUS! It certainly is not over yet no matter how much I dream about year 12 formal. Ah, c’est la vie!

Anyhow, while I am not here to give you recipes, tips, tricks and well, my blog, I have some pretty fan-friggin-tastic fabulous chefs lined up to do so instead! A whole range of dishes for you to enjoy while I am on this undesired break  – You won’t even notice my absence I promise!

See you soon for the April holidays and wishing you all a marvelous Easter break! Promise me you will chow down on what that Easter Bunny brings you/your chocolate loot stashed in the bottom of your drawer – Yes, I am on to you all

Paula. Vintage Kitchen. Both names/titles have a certain air of success about them. I say ‘Paula’, you say ‘Chef’ :) – When she offered to do a guest post, I was definitely off my face happy! She is witty and so talented at photography so team that up with her cooking and you have a winner!

Don’t be holding your breath for an average recipe my friends because Paula of the brilliant Vintage Kitchen Notes is about to show you the classical pound cake with her own not-so-vintage twist as she reminisces about summer :D

Hey everyone, I´m Paula and I´m so happy to be having this chat with you all and sharing one of my favorite cake recipes. I’m sure Uru would have no problem if we all dropped by unannounced bearing cake and asking for a cup of coffee. She is, after all, one of the friendliest persons ever to cross the blogosphere, and a talented chocolate alchemist as well. It´s a treat to be guest posting here.

Huh?

My title is a little confusing. Allow me to clarify to you the confusion.

Augustus = Chocolate Covered Peanut

“Huh?”

Augustus = Chocolate Covered Peanut

“Um… am I being stupid here or do I not get it?”

You are obviously being stupid. JOKES, no you are not. But allow me to explain the very nerdy, very school-ish inspiration for this equation. I do not do maths anymore so perhaps you may take that into account for my nonsensical equation (Quick, maths teachers, cover those eyes!)

3 Ways To A Happier Life

Hi, what am I doing posting on a Wednesday during school?

*ooh, bad girl truanting*
*ooh, bad girl not working her butt off unnecessarily*
*ooh, bad girl!*

Hehehe…

I will have you know that I can disprove all the above statements.

One: I am not truanting. Though every child takes the odd sick day which isn’t really a sick day, I can’t afford to anymore because we work quite a bit in school. So no, I woke up this morning with a splitting headache. And I’m telling you, I can sympathise with those bog body victims who got smashed with an axe on the skull before being tossed away. Ok, maybe not really :P

Chocolate Chip Baking Week 3: Brown Butter Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Wow. This is just wow. I can’t even begin to explain it. These have come the closest so far to kicking my original favourite off its high horse.

410Where do I begin with these cookies? They are so different to any other recipe for one thing when it comes to classic chocolate chip cookies – I mean let’s see, they:

First Attempts

Today was my first attempt at making brown butter. It was successful. I was proud. The berry bars turned out great. I was uber proud. But it also got me thinking of first attempts in general.

410

They are big things, moments in life which you do and don’t want to forget depending on circumstance. My first attempt at essay writing – little bit of fail there. BUT my first attempt at swimming. Successful (I know, I was so young but when I got into that water, it really wasn’t scary and it was ok – but just to make it clear swimming/sport – except netball – is not really my thing).
