Well, here we are at the end of 2011. What has happened for me?
- I started this blog (YAY)’
- I had my year 10 formal (woohoo!)
- I turned 16 (the age of party, driving etc.)
- I explored and became part of my baking – it is no longer a hobby, it is in my blood 🙂
Sounds like a pretty satisfying year to me? But what about you my dear readers – this year came and went so quickly – what happened for all of you? A marriage, a family addition? A celebration of some sort?
I am sure that whatever happened, 2011 was a year of goodwill, cheer and fabulous times for all of you – how else could it possibly have gone so fast?
Now, I do believe the Aztecs have predicted that the end of world is upon us in 2012. Specifically, “The Mayan calendar comes to an end on Sunday, December 23, 2012” – http://www.greatdreams.com/end-world.htm
How creepy that that is exactly 1 year and 1 day away!!! *Shudders*
Well, the Mayans are never wrong. These people brought chocolate into the world along with their friends, the Aztecs, so I believe they are perfectly justified in ending the world when they want. After all, I believe them to be our de facto supreme overlords since the chocolate they delivered to us mere subjects controls our lives.
Sorry is that just me? Well… whatever…
Now I don’t know about you but whether you believe this superstition or not, 2012 looks set to be a year of fabulous promise. *Ahem* – THE OLYMPICS ARE COMING!
And to be honest, I think it is more fun to believe that the end of the world is coming (wait, let me finish before you think I am a little on the emo side of life) so that everyday you have an excuse to get up and think to yourself, “Oh no, I only have ___ days to live. Best go make a scrumptious chocolate cake for breakfast” or “Oh no, I only have ___ days to live. Best go have an impulse 1 month holiday travelling Europe.”
My ma always says that you never know what will happen tomorrow so you should live life to the fullest every day. And while I don’t always follow that philosophy, after all we all get our bad days, I think it is very true. And no, I am not saying skip work on a daily basis and eat chocolate for breakfast lunch and tea (otherwise the world will be penniless and more than a little rolling around) but I do believe one of the main goals for 2012 should be to keep a smile on your face and enjoy what is happening. Let me be cliché – “Every cloud has a silver lining”
I think I will take an early approach to my newfound zest for 2012. I think I will begin celebrating the countdown to the end of the world by this sundae. Ever seen it before? No? Well, it is on my blog, I have made it many times. But unfortunately, I didn’t get to take pictures. So here are my very late, much owed pictures. Oh, oops, silly me! I should probably mention this is a hot fudge peanut butter sundae I am talking about. Got you drooling? yes you should be 🙂
I made this on my ma’s request and since she is not of the sweet-indulging-often-type she only wanted one scoop.
My Layering went like this:
- Hot Fudge Sauce
- Crushed sundae peanuts
- Large scoop ice cream (I used my double chocolate chip cookie dough)
- Crushed sundae peanuts
- Hot Fudge Sauce
- Garnish: Hot Crushed Sundae Peanuts and chocolate (I would have preferred Reese’s peanut butter cups like I used the first time I ever made this but we only had two types of delicious hazelnut chocolate – you should check out Baci chocolate!)
Of course, when I make it next for myself it will be indulgent and divine probably featuring this sauce, caramel sauce and maybe a hint of warmed Nutella drizzled on the whipped cream (oh yes, I have whipped cream on my sundaes, though I don’t like it on its own) with different ice cream per layer and with sliced cake or brownie pieces, different nuts and topped with maybe a cherry (healthy you know :P) or better yet, a chocolate bar like I did when I made this for a friend (best = snickers bar!)
So here you have it my friends. A final post before I whisk off on holiday for a week, leaving you all to your families, kitchen, hobbies and holiday.
What can I say? I am deeply thankful that each and every one of you enjoys and reads my blogs, putting up with my puns and sometimes low quality photography 😉
All of you deserve only the best of Christmases. I hope it is joyous and festive filled with people you love, food you adore, decorations which brighten and a relaxed and happy atmosphere.
And as for the New Year, I wish all of you the best of luck. May your wishes at the strike of midnight come true and may you achieve all your goals in the upcoming year.
Much love and joy coming from Australia to all 4 corners of the globe. Bring on 2012!!!
I shall type soon – be good and make sure you leave out cookies for Santa!!!
Happy Holidays my friends 🙂

For some reason I can’t explain, I’ve never made a sundae even though I love them VERY dearly. This is the kind of sundae I go nuts over, and are those Baci chocolates on top? Oh, I love those!

Yes they are Baci chocolates my friend 🙂
And I sincerely believe making this sundae will make up for all the other sundaes you haven’t made 🙂

Dear CCU ~ I told my daughter (27) about your blog yesterday and tried to explain how I love blogs by younger people because they are so honest and free with their words and thoughts. If the world does come to an end in 2012, I am certain you will reside eternally in Chocolate Heaven and have charge of testing every chocolate recipe ever known to (wo)man.
Merry Christmas and please, please keep on blogging.
