MY 100TH CHOCOLATE POST

Is this not the most exciting thing in the world ever??? A whole big DOUBLE 00 of posts regarding the most amazing ingredient in the world. Truly, it is a great moment in every girl’s life when she reaches her 100th tribute to the sweetest (pun intended to some extent) of all ingredients.

Chocolate.

Chocolate.

Chocolate.

CHOCOLATE.

I rather think you get the picture now 😀

IMG_7002To commemorate this amazing moment in my blogging career, which I only realised as I began to write this post (;)), I have decided to make what I feel, is the ULTIMATE in chocolate baking.

IMG_7006Brownies.

Brownies.

Brown-right, I do not think I have to go through it again…
What is even better is that I ate these amazing babies while the wind was roaring outdoors, the rain pelting down and I was dry, cosy and in brownie heaven 😀

But these are not just ANY brownies. These have been teamed with one of chocolate’s many famous partners in crime.
I swear, the way chocolate goes through partners yet doesn’t age or get boring as an ingredient, you may as well call him the James Bond of the cooking world!

Anyway meet Caramel. But not just caramel. Caramel in her most luscious and exotic form. As dulce de leche. DULCE DE LECHE But with a twist. A splash of vanilla, a little bit of whisking, and you get VANILLA DULCE DE LECHE. I should totally be punished and sent to jail for this because

I. Could. Not. Stop. Spooning.

How can I put more emphasis? 😀

Pre-Baking

Pre-Baking

So imagine a brownie, deep, dark chocolatey fudgy goodness with chunks of soft, warm, dulce de leche oozing out of the pockets, with some ice cream and a whole heap of love. Imagine biting into exquisite richness which seeps into your body so that chocolate consumes even the most anti-chocolate hearts.

Yeah, this is that brownie. Try not to eat the entire batch.

I got this brownie recipe from the dulce de leche genius himself, the man who takes ice creams to the next level and the mastermind behind everything that is sweet.

Sir David Lebovitz. I am not a queen and cannot knight him? Try and stop me. I will fight you off with candy canes if necessary.

dulce de leche brownies 5If that is not enough, he also taught me, the little girl scared of boiling a can for fear of the steam pot exploding in her face, the simpler method of roasting in an oven. So easy. So simple. So heavenly. Check it out right here!

dulce de leche brownies 6
Here are my changes to his outstanding recipes – as kingly as this man is, I could not possibly follow it completely. Goes against all my principles don’t ya know? 😉

In THE Brownies

dulce de leche brownies 3

  • I cut down the sugar to 3/4 cup and used brown instead, tightly packed
  • I used a mix of milk and dark chocolate because an open packet of milk chocolate was mysteriously lying around… 😉
    IMG_6955
  • I added the eggs second last before adding the flour because if you added them first, scrambled eggs in chocolate would be created!
  • I used 1/2 tsp coffee essence (coffee and caramel are amazing together so maybe in my next batch of dulce de leche, some coffee flavour might be necessary.. hmmmm)
  • I used 1 1/2 cups of dulce de leche – can’t have too much of  a good thing right? 🙂

In THE Dulce de Leche

  • After cooling, I added in a tbs of vanilla essence then whisked it around and unsuccessfully, did not stop my incessant spooning 🙂

Are you ready to conquer your indulgences for good? This one just might (god, I am such a bad liar… :P)

Before I leave you to wish you were in my shoes on a warm couch, heater at my feet with the TV on Big Bang Theory with this slice of heaven (oh my, did I make you jealous? :P) I have some great news to share with you – I was awarded the Very Inspiring Blogger Award from Lazy Laura Maisey! Thank you so much my friend, most kind 😀

What an even greater way to enjoy this celebratory post! As in my last award like this, all of my blogger friends inspire me so I cannot imagine passing it on to a select number of people – I present this award to all of you 😀 😀

  6. Sorry My Guru Uru, I am four days late in congratulating you for your 100th post.
Congrats on your huge accomplishment .
I can understand what brownies do to people who adore them. My daughter is one such person. The addition of Dulce de leche is something. That picture makes me drool over. You would not believe this but as a kid when we traveled in train for 4-5 days my parents would take condensed milk for their tea and I loved licking spoon fulls of those. Who cared about calories in those days?

    • Do not apologise my friend, you have no reason to 🙂
I am so glad you enjoyed these – the dulce de leche takes them over the top!
And I do believe you because my own mum loves putting sweetened condensed milk in her tea and I too spoon sweetened condensed milk (then hop on the treadmill ;))

      Cheers

  9. Congratulations on your 100th chocolate blog. The brownies are certainly worthy of being your 100th post. They are soo much more than the average brownie, Mr Glam would have died and gone to heaven if I made these. His dad worked for Nestle and he was brought up on condensed milk – these will be perfect for him. GG

    • Thank you so much my friend – truly, normal plain brownies seem so avergae against the added dulce de leche 🙂

  20. 100th chocolate post-well I must say you should be getting a big bonus check from Hersheys or Lindt for that achievement. Pretty cool angle to think about, has me wondering about how many cookie posts or ice cream posts I have done. I know you have me beat on the number of chocolate posts.
Send me some of your chocolate goodies and I will talk to Lindt if you have not got your bonus check yet!
