Hello to all of CCUโ€™s readership!ย  This is Ames from โ€˜a Melbourne girl at heartโ€™!ย  I chose to name my blog as such because being born and raised in Melbourne, itโ€™s the city that will always be apart of me and itโ€™s something that would never change no matter what life throws at me :).ย  But this blog isnโ€™t about me so letโ€™s get on with the recipes (that rhymes hehe)!

So, my hope is that by the time this post gets posted, Iโ€™ll have already began cooking through Donna Hayโ€™s โ€˜fast, fresh, simpleโ€™ cookbook.ย  I first fell in love with Donna Hayโ€™s way of cooking when her show, โ€˜fast, fresh, simpleโ€™ was televised on one of our cable TV channels.ย  With all the commitments that need to be juggled, I often donโ€™t have the time or energy to do as much cooking as I would like.ย  However, after watching a number of episodes of Donna Hayโ€™s show, I thought, โ€œHey, it doesnโ€™t actually take that long to cook yummy food!โ€ย  Hence, when Book Depository had their 10% off sale, the first thing on my list was to purchase that cookbook!

Since I know CCU has a sweet tooth, I thought Iโ€™d share two short, sweet and simple recipes that weโ€™ve made in our household from Donna Hayโ€™s โ€˜fast fresh, simpleโ€™ show (which also features in the cookbook of the same title).

Note: please excuse the dodgy photography โ€“ this was before I started using a DSLR ๐Ÿ˜›

Chocolate eclairs were a favourite of mine when I was growing up. If I ever walked into a cake shop, that is what I’d buy. I think I’d have to start with making these cheat’s eclairs. And don’t we all love Donna and haven’t we all benefited from her cookbooks xx

  5. Hmm, we call them pancake rings here. ๐Ÿ™‚ Very easy macaroons – and I like the shape and putting chocolate between two of them – double yummy! The eclair cookies are cute – most ingenious. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hi Uru! All the best with your exams, my friend. (((HUGS)))

Two amazingly tasty desserts that don’t seem TOO difficult to put together with a few ingredients.

The macaroons especially were a revelation. It gave me the idea for a strawberry shortcake type presentation … drizzle some strawberry puree on a plate, fill the macaroons with sliced macerated strawberries, and decorate with a whole partially sliced strawberry and whipping cream. Very grownup and fancy. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oopps, I just realised there’s a mistake in the title of the first recipe –> should be ‘Macaroon’ not ‘Macaron’ >.< yikes, horrid error on my part ! Please change it when you can, thanks dear!
