A Chocolatey Proposal

Sometimes a recipe just clicks.

You feel chemistry… with a recipe.

Oh don’t look at me like that, I adore good looking men (Exhibit A: Sean Faris) as much as any hormone-crazed teenage girl, BUT, sometimes… on a rare occasion… I feel this super intense connection with food.

Am I the only foodie who feels this?

It is as if one bite is not enough, as if I want to spend the rest of my life with this. one. single. recipe.

IMG_8978

Elton John can feel the love tonight. I can feel the love tonight.

The question is… can you?

IMG_8977

Can you put aside all your commitments for that one recipe you feel a connection with?

Can you sweep a recipe off its feet? Or allow the recipe to sweep you off yours?

No? What if the recipe brings ice cream with it? Instead of candles, it tops itself with a nice big dollop of extra sweetness…

Then can you let go and simply embrace the recipe?

IMG_9052

Oh delicious one. Will you do the honour of being my… of being *sniff*… my dessert?

In sickness or in health, I promise to eat you and only you.

IMG_8982

Oh you accept? Oh I  knew you would, I just knew it!

Now, let’s say you and I go explore this chemistry between us ay? 😉

IMG_9058

I’ll take that as a yes 🙂

Now for all of you who have witnessed this spiritual connection between man (girl) and his (her) dessert, I urge you to find your own love, the one recipe you want to spend the rest of your life with.

Be stuck on a deserted island with (pun intended!).

Battle through the impending apocalypse with.

Oh brownie pudding, with your swirls of Nutella and your gooey, underbaked centre, I thank the heavens I have found you. You are the only one for me, can’t you see? 😉

Nutella Brownie Pudding

Adapted from: The Girl Who Ate Everything

Ingredients:

  • 220g butter, unsalted, room temperature + extra for buttering dishes
  • 50 dark chocolate
  • 1/2 cup Nutella + extra, for swirling
    IMG_8885
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup caster sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup plain flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • Vanilla ice cream, to serve (optional)

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees C. Generously butter a 9×13 inch baking dish OR 8 ramekins
  2. Melt the butter, chocolate and Nutella, set aside to cool
  3. In a separate bowl, beat eggs, sugar and vanilla essence on high speed until thick and pale
  4. On low speed, sift in the flour and cocoa powder and continue mixing
  5. Slowly pour in the chocolate mixture and stir through until just combined
  6. Pour the mixture into the dish or into the ramekins
  7. Swirl through a dollop of Nutella for good measure 😉

  8. Put the dish or ramekins into a large baking tray. Add in boiling water until it reaches up halfway to the ramekins or the baking dish
  9. Gently lower it into the oven and bake for approximately 45 minutes to an hour in the dish, or 20-25 minutes in the ramekins. A skewer inserted should come out 3/4 clean with crumbs – it should be underbaked, remember – brownie-PUDDING

  10. Allow to cool (if you can) and then devour with vanilla ice cream!

Officially united with your love 🙂

  2. You know, when I was a college student, I didn’t know how to bake a thing, and I never made even simple cookies. If I could bake like you, I think I wasn’t stressed as much and I could had a perfect college life…with a good amount of sugary treats in between! Love this chocolate dessert!

My husband has been going through a nutella craze lately. He wants nutella muffins! Most probably he ll honor your nutella pudding brownie as much or even more. I won’t allow him to get married to it but he can have a bite every now and then. 😉

I’m afraid I will be eating more than 1 ramekin of this at a time. Should I double the recipe to begin with? LOL. Vanilla ice cream makes a perfect pair, I agree!

& I have a confession to make: I may take this chocolate sin over a good looking man…unless, of course, he happens to be Adam Levine! Xxx

  6. This looks like a similar cake that I often make when I want a super big dose of chocolate. I know it is almost blasphemous for a food blogger to say so, but I don’t get the attraction of Nutella usually – this could make me change my mind though!

  7. A good chocolate cake recipe is worth more than gold. Truly, your melt & mix method has definitely made the way for a stress free baking session, that can be whipped up in next to no time.

Nutella or not, I’ve no doubt it would still be amazing!

Okay I am totally digging this recipe and the photos with the ice cream on top just about pushed me over the edge. I almost ran into the kitchen to whip this up immediately. Then I remember my whole family is sleeping and that would be rude. Lol!

Sounds like a chocolate lava cake with Nutella swirled into it. Love the lava cake part but having never tasted Nutella (I’m stubborn that way), I’d consider swirling in some dulce de leche instead. 🙂
