Party In The USA – Part III

Just before I start this post, the commenting issue has apparently been fixed – if anyone is still unable to comment, please take a print screen of what your commenting area looks like, or of what comes up if you press comment, send it gobakeyourself@yahoo.com.au and I will forward it on to the blogging consultancy to try and fix it 🙂

This is the second last instalment to my ‘Party in the USA’ series, but I promise you my friends, it will be not be boring, and definitely full of good foodieness 😉

Despite what you may think, I am not done with the Caribbean yet, not at all! One post would definitely not be enough to capture the absolute gorgeousness of the islands, and I have not even shown you the local food.

Shame on me, shame on me, shame on me 😛

But that’s ok!

I think perhaps my favourite island from all the wonderful islands we set foot on was the magnificent St Maartens. And yes, that is not a misspell. You see, this particular island is seriously weird in that it is split between Dutch and French ownership.

Party In The USA – Part II

So, I waasss enjoying the last days of my holiday in Belgium and Paris, eating chocolate while I being drawn like a French girl 😉 – but now back to reality and I’m home.

With my buddy… Jetlag.

Buuuut that is all good cos I am ready to bake more than ever before uni starts in one month – eek!

Until then, read on about my previous holiday 😀

***********************

Ok, so I name this post ‘Party in the USA’ to go along with the theme from my last post about my last trip… but to be quite honest, this post should be called Party In The Caribbean because that is what it was!

Party In The USA – Part I

So quoting Miley Cyrus is definitely not how I want to start out this post (or any of the other to come), and which is being published after what seems like a million and a half years, but she does (did?) have the right idea because I am not kidding you guys, the United States of America is like an ongoing party.

Everywhere you go there are

  3. Lights. Bright, flashing, lights everywhere!
  4. Such super friendly people – I mean, these guys can strike up conversations in lifts and not even feel a touch of shyness 😀

CCU Undercover: Millone’s Ristorante & Bar

Please donate to the Nepal Region Earthquake Appeal. I don’t think I need to give a reason why, and if you haven’t already done so, what are you waiting for? It doesn’t need to be big, just come from the heart. Everything counts.

If I have learnt anything in my life, it is that Italian food offers the greatest source of comfort food, out of any other cuisine. I don’t know if it just me, but when it is wet, gloomy and I need some serious food hits, Indian curry or Asian noodles are not satisfying enough.

No, what I need is a big, wholesome plate of carb-loaded, sauce-fuelled pasta with some hunkering pieces of garlic bread on the side, topped off with a giant pizza (for one). So when we ended up at Millone’s late on a chilly, rainy and of course, windy, that craving was quite fulfilled…

Topsy Turvy Australia Day

A little bit of a twist on the most delicious traditional treat Australians have shared with the world. Who would have thought spongecake, chocolate and coconut would be such a magical combination?

An Australian, that’s who 🙂

The spongecake is dense, but soft and rich, and when it melts onto your tongue along with the white chocolate, you melt right with it – just like any dessert should make you!

Eat Drink Blog 2014: A Recap

I swear, what even am I doing… Is this site called ‘Go Review Yourself?’ Ugh, I wish I could apologise and say it is my fault for being lazy but I swear, between organising exchange, failing miserably to do well at my uni work (jokes, failing to DO my uni work) and in general social stuff, I haven’t the time right now to bake 😥

But this summer, HOO BOY, this summer, I have a list steadily building up… If you want food I suggest you drop by whenever you want at my place because baked goods aplenty, je te promesse! (FYI I probably conjugated this wrong or misspelt it :P)

But I have told you about Sofitel, I introduced you to Sake, but you still have no idea what went down in Brisbane right? That’s because there have been SO many photos to sort through that I haven’t been able to do it in a night 😛

I went a little snap happy… hehe… hehehe… ANYWAY, deranged laughter aside, here is a little recap of one of the most exciting weekends  I have ever had!

‘Please Sir, I Want Some More’

Hello lovely people! Exciting news!! Like, super exciting news 😀

For the next three weeks, once a week, I shall be posting up a themed post talking all about the different parts of being a university student! Through lovely Liz @That Skinny Chick Can Bake, I met Ala @Wallflour Girl, who was organising a little blogger link up party for those experiencing the roller coaster that is uni life!

From different themes for a range recipes, I totally promise you guys, my blog, and all the other fabulous blogs part of this link up, are literally going to be giving you all a magnifying glass to peer into the world of uni students today! 😀

And what a world it is… #undergradstudentbloggers

But look at the time, I don’t have time for an ellipsis! Let us begin then no? 😀

CCUUUUUUUU’ – her mother was screaming at her. Again. But could she really blame her? After all, she was sitting in her pyjamas not doing anything. Again. An empty carton of what used to be Chinese takeaway sat sadly on her bedside table.

Guess it’s time to reorder that, CCU mused. Her parents were out for the night so looked like she was getting takeaway again. I mean, sure baking is all good, but what even IS savoury food?

Just as she was about to find the restaurant online, her laptop began to fizz. It began to bubble. Her internet sparked. Suddenly, she was transported to a whole other site than the Chinese restaurant she was virtually going to!

She read it out loud to herself, a little perplexed. “Delivery at home… mumble mumble… fresh ingredients… mumble… homemade easy dishes…’

She found herself grinning, as her interest was piqued, and she threw the Chinese takeaway into the bin!

That did not really happen. Not at all. And disclaimer alert: I am all for Chinese takeaway!

Let me admit now, I am a staunch lover of takeaway and dining out.

I love it when I am out with my friends, and we are sipping cocktails and waiting for our tapas. I love it when I am coming home from uni and take a quick swerve into a very greasy driveway (in more ways than one) for satisfying trans-fats.

A Quiet Post

To all those having commenting issues, I’m sorry – I have sent your screen shots and messages onto the people managing my blog and hopefully it will be resolved soon! Plug-ins and all can be crazy 😛
Thank you for being so patient though!!

And I actually totally owed you all the final part of my USA Party series, butttt I need some photos from my daddy (who is a seriously awesome amateur photographer… kind of contradictory because how can you be amateur if you are so good?) – so, not that I just buttered him up or anything (:P), hopefully I will be able to write that up soon!

************************

Before I start my usual ramblings in this post, I would like to tell all you wonderful people who mentally sent me down the cold after my rant last post, that it worked! Because right now, it is raining outside with no blue skies for miles around me 😀
Yay! I hope I returned the favour and sent the heat steaming towards you all!
