CCU Undercover: Tea Vivre Review Part I

CCU may as well have just gone down to the beach in a tie dye skirt, brushed her hair with a comb made from stitched nettle and started dancing wildly with her flower anklets catching the light of the sunset.

She was drinking so much herbal and organic teas these days, she was actually beyond relaxed. CCU put the bonfire on, shaking her vintage kettle to make sure their was enough water inside and set it to begin boiling.

The aroma of tea began to fill the atmosphere, as she laid back against the sand and watched the stars filling the sky with their twinkle as the sun went to sleep…

CCU Undercover: Pukka Teas Review

CCU lifted her pinky up.

“Higher!”, screeched her etiquettes teacher. “Higher!!!!”

CCU tried to contain her giggles, while the lady in front of her basically turned apoplectic.

Just to annoy her, CCU bent her pinky the tiniest bit. The hint of a wrinkle appeared on her skin where she moved it. It was a game now, to see just how red CCU could make her teacher become. Who knows… she may even turn purple!

The etiquette teacher screwed up her piggy little eyes, and the lines of depression on her face made her forehead look like the grand canyon for facial bacteria. She wagged her sausage of a finger, the nail so long, sharp and artificial that it almost scratched CCU on the nose, before plonking in her chair with a thud.

That takes care of that old bat, CCU mused, while she remained in the gold plated chair, stuffed her pinky inside her hoodie, and began to actually enjoy her tea…

By the way, I did actually have a bad tempered crazy teacher like this in high school… no names given here ;)… but anyways…

I have to admit something. Despite my love of all things cool, organic and herb-ish, I have never been big on teas. I used to see the jasmine teas and all those fancy delilah-carnation flower tea things, but being near earl grey and all that, I never got interested.

Because wow, do I not like breakfast, caffeine-filled, just-off-coffee teas. Not my thing 😛

*******************************

How lucky am I? A couple of days back, Justin from Cheap Super Foods Australia, contacted me, asking me to try some wonderful up and coming raw, organic ingredients from their huge range. As if I could turn down a huge opportunity like that! I know many bloggers, especially Vegan, focusing on all these new foods, so I knew I had plenty of inspiration to start making recipes.

But what are superfoods? Why is using them considered ‘super’ but using caster sugar, isn’t? We are not being ingredient-ist here, but the term ‘superfoods’ means that particular ingredient has been classified as Food with high nutrient and phytochemical content that may confer health benefits. It has few negative properties if any, considering it is highly unprocessed (natural), does not contain contaminants, saturated fats, artificial ingredients or food additives.” – Wikipedia

When I say ‘phytochemicals’, I mean naturally occurring beneficial chemical compounds in plants, such as antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and polyphenol. I used this think anything ‘organic’ equated in some way, to marijuana and hippie food, tasting like dirt despite any ‘benefits.’ Since I started food blogging, I have learnt a heck of a lot about all of it, and am glad to learn that is not the case! 😀
