Guest Post: Frugal Hausfrau

Bonjour tout le monde! Today, we commence with the first guest post and as you can tell, OH MY GOD, they are going to be good. They are going to be soooo good! 😀

While I slave away at not a stove, but at my books (jokes, I will pretend to), I would like to, without further ado, welcome our first guest poster on Go Bake Yourself (fireworks go off, slow motion clapping everywhere!) – One of fabulous blogger mates, have you ever met The Frugal Hausfrau?

Spunky as can be, with magic sparks coming out of her hand when she touches a whisk, I think you had better start reading all about her impromptu virtual trip down under no? You’ll love it, especially when you start to (if already haven’t) salivate over all dem photos!

It’s high time I disappear now… so enjoy!!! 😀

Pièce de Résistance

I don’t have many

moments in my life. Then again, I suppose if I did, or if anyone did for that matter, the French wouldn’t have bothered coining such a beautiful phrase for them. It would be too, ‘ow you say, ‘common.’ 😉

And So It Begins… With A Giveaway (Closed)

So, here I am again, feeling a bit sheepish that I am blogging when I have been ignoring all your gorgeous posts for what? A week and a half?

I would say ‘oops’ and cover my mouth with my hands all Marilyn Monroe style and pretend innocence, but it is just not that situation! 😛

You guys know that I graduated, and was rather thrilled with it. And then you found out for some obscure reasons, my finals at school were not my finals per se, because I have another set of exams now. #whatisblogging

I promise you all, it seems like exams are all I ever do, but these are for real, my final exams ever. For 4 months. For high school. Despite the fact that I am taking quite few holidays after I finish, I will be all yours. Soon my darlings… so soon!

4th November. Remember that. 😀

So on Monday, my final exams begin (On one day, I have 2 exams in one day 6 hours in one day, and my hand will fall off, I guarantee it :P)

I am already feeling the euphoria, the rush of chucking away sheets (You’ll see what I mean when I post again!) but no, let it begin. Like Jordin Sparks says, ‘Take one step at a time, there’s no need to rush‘ (Lies, I want to rush my butt off!) 😉

Manic Mania!

Do you all have those days where you become absolutely ob-sess-ed with something. You see it everywhere you go, you think about it and then dream about it as well?

Well, last post, I told you I was reading Anna Karenina.
It’s a novel about a love story. Sounds pretty average right? NO! It is so much more than a love story…

Cheesecake Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich

Written by Leo Tolstoy, who is one of the most brilliant writers in history, it is the tragedy of one married woman who discovers the emptiness of her life after finding immediate lust and love. Leading to an adulterous affair, she continues to try and still be part of her autocratic and judgmental Russian society, while battling her internal demons, a poisonous mixture of jealousy and depression egged on by morphine.

Interweave this story with another tale of a philosophically minded man whose discovery of love leads to confusion and questioning, you get a novel which so intricately explores the human condition. Personally, I also found Tolstoy’s descriptions to be a criticism on society’s animalistic tendency for ‘acting as a pack’. Anna is condemned for her actions by all of her class, which truly speaks out about how narrow-minded and opinionated a group can be.

Rich Berry Cherry Chocolate Cheesecake: A Guest Post

Shhhh… it’s a secret.

“What, where, why?”

Shhh… follow me…

“Look, my mum told me not to follow strangers”

Your mum is part of it.

“WHAT?”

The name’s Cake. Cheese Cake.

Can I trust you?

That is the question I should be asking you.

*disgruntled* I am trustworthy. I’m Chocolate, for heavens sake!

Stop being everyone’s friend. Be our friend. Cocoa Powder has told me all about you. You will be a great asset.

Asset to what? *exasperated*

Happy Early Birthday JJ! (Traditions of March #3)

Dear JJ,

Hi 🙂

How you feeling? Older, wrinklier or wiser? No? Just 16 yrs? Not different? Good stuff.

So I hear you are going to have a great day tomorrow. Are you upset I posted early? I just wanted to send you to bed hungry 😀

JJ, I just want to say to HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

cheesecake 11Out of the 4 years I have now known you (a lifetime right?) we have gone through so much together *sniff* – netball tryouts at school, dancing, parties, formal, even ‘sleepovers’ where you look like me to certain people (:P) and our shunning because of loving pineapple lumps!

You make life so positive and upbeat dude – I am not kidding, with your older-sister attitude 😛
Though let me clarify, you are so totally younger than me 😉

My Latest 3-Layer Distraction

Sometimes there are problems in your life. They are unexpected, out of the blue and you see your security starting to crumble a little. You don’t know what to do, how to act and how to face it because it might be a new problem, one you have never experienced before.

It’s a case of life giving lemons but not being able to make lemonade because they are sour or rotten. Not every lemon can be good I suppose.

When these problems come up, there is always a positive side according to my ma and I know she is right. Like yin and yang, light and dark, with every negative there must be a positive, a law of nature.

But sometimes you just can’t find it. You can search everywhere and try to convince yourself you have found that happy side but sometimes it is just too hard and you collapse under the strain. It is in these cases you must avoid the issue for a little bit of time. Calm yourself and let your passions overwhelm you so they can take you to a world away from reality, an ephemeral moment of peace and tranquillity before you are pulled away again.

The End Of ‘The Crack’ Horrification

142I have a penchant for horror movies. Don’t look at me like that, I have had and am currently having a wonderful childhood. And it helps that while I write this post, the rain is thundering down, putting me in my mood.

I love the thrill. The anticipation of opening a door in the dead of night when there is no one with you. The strange sounds which crescendo outside your window but when you look through, there is nothing but the last few trickles of rain. That shiver which glides down the back of your neck as if someone is watching your every move…

“1, 2 Freddie’s come for you…”

Elvis Meets Oreo at the Bottom of a Black Cupcake

What was so great about Elvis? Was it his oozing charm or his gel oozing quiff? Was it the fact that he could waggle his hips probably better than a lot of girls? Was it his, um, radical dance moves? Was it his voice which was so deep and melodious, it still makes you to want to glide with it?

Yeah, I think the answer is all of the above. He was after all The King. Full stop, no questions asked. But another thing he was famous for, a very well known thing actually (especially amongst us foodies) was his love for a special sandwich.

To be precise (ahem, Thomson without a ‘p’), a very special sandwich.

elvis-sandwich-courtesy-sodahead.com_

A sandwich slathered in peanut butter, overflowing with sliced banana and crispy fried bacon before the whole sandwich itself  was fried again in hot butter on a pan or griddle. Sounds a little, um, out there but these days everything is. In those days, nothing was except Elvis and what Elvis did was made law so this sandwich now still bears his name today – nice one 😀
