UPDATE: Just clarifying that I have not made my likes page yet on facebook (which is why I have asked you all how to make it :D) and I will be posting up a link after I have done so ๐Ÿ™‚

The world is constantly changing, we are constantly aging and of course, ever since Einstein invented time, nothing will ever be able to stop, stay at a standstill, or at the very least, go slow motion style like in Matrix ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyhow, before I go ranting (again) and get off topic as I have a tendency to, there have been some major changes around. And I think almost 99% of you all are aware of it. Foodbuzz, the biggest and most awesomest food blogger sharing community is switching to DailyBuzz. Say what?
Ok, yes it will be fine but how can we see all the bloggers in the world now? It is such a wonderful feeling when waking up to go check Foodbuzz and see all these different and delicious posts. Makes me breakfast hungry ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have put my application in to be a publisher for DailyBuzz, I am sure all of you have, but I never saw August 1st coming. It was unexpected and a change that threw me a little off. What, who and why?
This made me think. I subscribe to a lot of blogs. I am not getting into the nitty gritty. But I may or may not have added perhaps 20-30 more today. Wow. Yeah, I love you all ๐Ÿ˜€ – it was necessary (why must everyone cook so well!)

Anyway though, that is not the only change going on. See, the other day, I had lunch with Mark Zuckerberg, you know, casually as you do ๐Ÿ˜›
We were talking, eating pizza when he asked me ‘Why do you still not have Facebook?’ – I could see, considering he created it and it was kind of world famous and all, why he was hurt.

banana ice cream15
So I finally decided to end my procrastination, and for the blog, spend two-three hours getting FB, acting on the pact ๐Ÿ™‚

You all know what this means right???

I CAN LIKE YOUR BLOGS ON FACEBOOK ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

So send one, send all, I want everyone’s Facebook links to like and follow ๐Ÿ˜€
In return for everything that has been done post FoodBuzz announcement, I request one favour…

banana ice cream8

  1. How do you get a likes page on Facebook?
  2. How do I connect my blog to said likes page on FB?
  3. Will you guys like me to? ๐Ÿ˜›

Zuckerberg, the rat, has a meeting to go to so he was no help at all. Psshaw. ๐Ÿ˜‰
But I know I can count on you all!

Ok, cool, so now on to the recipe part ๐Ÿ˜€

banana ice cream11
See there is another reason I was talking about changes. My friend, PDS, is going through, actually has just gone through, a HUGE change. She moved houses… 2 minutes away from me ๐Ÿ˜€

*excited* *excited* *excited*

A house move calls for major bedroom decoration decisions, lack of telephone lines, getting used to the random cat on the street AND HOUSEWARMING!

banana ice cream17
Housewarming rules:

  • Bring a cake
  • Sit and talk
  • Drive home

CCU & PDS Housewarming rules:

  • Bring ice cream (because it actually won’t melt :D)
  • Scream/laugh as means of communication (you have all heard teenage girls talk right?)
  • Walk home (because it’s possible :D)

Disclaimer: PDS, I did have to taste your ice cream and pour on some fudge sauce and take photos but I promise you, I barely ate one spoonful… but it was really, really hard to stop ๐Ÿ˜‰

banana ice cream10
So why did I choose the ice cream flavour I did?

  1. PDS absolutely loves bananas
  2. You all know Ben & Jerry’s no? Ice cream geniuses, gorgeous flavours and all that jazz ๐Ÿ˜‰ – Well they have one flavour that I am really not a fan of. Chunky Monkey. I know, I know, banana ice cream with fudge chunks and walnuts, what is not to like?? But the banana taste is so artificial… eeyuck – so I made it my mission to recreate it with a big more BANG
  3. Hello, maybe you have forgotten but it is still National Ice Cream Month ๐Ÿ˜‰ (sacrilege if you did!)

banana ice cream18
So voila, my own take on the famous roasted banana ice cream, mixed in with crushed walnuts and chocolate chips. Now this ice cream would attract a monkey (makes me see why we humans, their descendants, also crave it ;))

It is smooth and creamy but freezes like a rock (so be warmed, take it out 20-25 minutes before serving if not more, in winter). I left the ice cream banana base a little chunky because, well, yum ๐Ÿ˜‰ but go ahead and puree it all up! The butterscotch roasted bananas are a dessert in themselves so as an ice cream, base work strong and deliciously. They compliment the chocolate chips and walnuts both texturally and taste-wise so win-win situation everywhere!

banana ice cream13Happy Housewarming PDS & The S Family! Enjoy all the bananas you all desire ๐Ÿ˜€

Butterscotch Chunky Monkey
Loosely based on: This Recipe

Makes: 1 L

Butterscotch Bananas (if you do not want to make ice cream, eat these hot with vanilla ice cream – YUM)

  • 50g butter
  • 4 large, super ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 tbs – 1/4 cup thickened cream
  • 2 tbs golden syrup

Ice Cream

  • 1/4 cup thickened cream
  • 1 1/4 cup full cream milk
  • 3 tbs caster sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla essence/butterscotch essence
  • 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt

Add Ins

  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2/3 cup chocolate chips

banana ice cream9

  1. Make the Butterscotch Bananas: In a large frypan, heat up on medium and add in butter until melted
  2. Mix through the brown sugar until combined and stir continuously till starts to bubble
  3. Add in golden syrup, turn down heat to medium low
  4. Add in bananas and cook for 1-2 minutes or until coated all over and caramelised
    banana ice cream6
  5. Stir in cream and bring mixture to boil
  6. Remove from heat and cool
  7. Make Ice Cream: Place banana mixture, milk, cream, sugar, essence, lemon juice and salt into a food processor and process for 3-4 minutes or until completely smooth mixture (I left mine a little chunky :D)
    banana ice cream7
  8. Pour mixture into ice cream machine and churn according to manufacturer’s instructions
    banana ice cream5
  9. Stir through the nuts and chocolate chips after finished churning
  10. Freeze in a container or enjoy soft serve style! ๐Ÿ˜€

Next Time:

  • I may not add the extra cream into the bananas since they were so deliciously caramelised and coated before and their syrup was already thick enough ๐Ÿ™‚

*****************************************************************************With all these changes going on, I almost forgot, I have awards to hand out ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Firstly, I was lucky enough to receive The Lovely Blog Award from a sweet friend, Pooja over at Saffron N Appetite! If you have never visited, I promise you, her blog will blow you away – full of delicious meals and treats ๐Ÿ™‚

Secondly, another awesome blogging buddy from the times of Foodbuzz, namely Becky from Baker Becky, awarded me with the Addictive Blog Award! When she says baker, she means baker! So many cute and delicious treats, I want to literally eat her entire blog ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks so much to both you guys, it means a lot ๐Ÿ˜€

I will definitely like your page, no worries, my dear. I don’t have a like page- too early on into this blog thing, but I have a personal one and if anytime you get a page of your own, friend me, o ๐Ÿ˜‰
I’ll admit, B&J’s chunky monkey is a favorite one of mine, but your butterscotch bananad wonder looks super good. All this is tempting to go purchase an ice cream maker, the end of any weight loss solution whatsoever. Love this recipe, as always great job, my dear.

  5. Louise says:

What a GREAT recipe for National Ice Cream Month!!! It sounds so amazing Uru I may just dream about it tonight!!!

I’m sorry I can’t help you with FB. I gave it up a long time ago. Have fun though as I’m sure you will:)

Thank you so much for sharing…

  6. Um, I would love love love a bowl of the stuff. It sounds so good! Perfect for the hot weather we are having. Of course I would also have this in the dead of winter. Good luck with the FB page construction. I cannot wait to like it ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Kate says:

I know, right? What the heck, foodbuzz!? I haveno idea how to post my content on their site now…if you’re even supposed to do that anymore. As for the like page, it’s a lot more simple than it sounds. A simple search and i had detailed step by step instructions. Its no biggie. Katefromscratch on facebook is here, if interested.
Thanks for the linkage, my friend. Congrats on the awards and that ice cream looks to die for! Yummy!

  8. Maggie says:

OMG! I just got an ice cream maker and have been trying out new recipes like crazy! THis one looks divine and I will add it to my to-try list!
Welcome to the Facebook world, I look forward to linking up with you. My page is here:
I hadn’t heard about FoodBuzz yet, but thanks for filling me in! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Cakelaw says:

Thanks so much for the award! What a lovely surprise. This chunky monkey icecream looks fantastic – but most of all, I want to steal the sundae with the cherry on top. I can’t help you with your Facebook issue, because I don’t know how to make a likes page either ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  10. That looks like the most delicious ice-cream combination, I am sure your new neighbour and BFF would have loved it. I didn’t realise FoodBuzz was changing! BLAH! I hate changes ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Here is my Gourmet Getaways FB page for you to like. I would be happy to like yours too ๐Ÿ™‚ Once you have set up your personal FB account you then set up a “page” for your blog which you are an administrator on. The you need to get the HTML code and put it in a block on your blog. I would be happy to talk you through it. Or even start the page for you and add you as an administrator and take myself off. Just let me know ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. libishski says:

Waaaah my bf suggested I create a facebook page for my blog but I haven’t done so yet. Partly because I’m so busy at the moment and partly because I’m scared that no one will actually ‘like’ it haha.

  12. Juliana says:

Oh! This ice cream look absolutely insane…I so wish I could have a scoop of it. I am not very good on FB, and yet have to learn to “like” others pages.
Have a wonderful week ahead my dear ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Michelle says:

I don’t use Facebook for my blog, but I will like you! I will miss the Foodbuzz inbox too ๐Ÿ˜ฆ but I am following away too so that I can stay in touch! Follow back if you like!

  14. Barbara says:

Change is good…..and so is this ice cream! ๐Ÿ™‚
You’ll get much better advice from others, but I can tell you my computer guru told me to separate my regular Facebook page from my blog Facebook page, so I did. I have a link on my Moveable Feasts Facebook page on my blog.

  15. Wow! We are from the land of homemade ice cream but have never seen the equal to yours!! We certainly will find you on Facebook because we definitely LIKE you! Best wishes! Sharon and Denise @BeBetsy.
P.S. Glad you are getting the well-deserved recognition from so many.

  16. lacyd02 says:

Soooo trying this!! I had no idea that foodbuzz was making any changes. Clearly haven’t been on there in a while but thanks for the update! This ice cream sounds amazing, love the flavors, totally need to try this in my new ice cream maker!! YUM!!

  17. viveka says:

Hi there, now it’s all here … don’t know why it didn’t show yesterday. We are back to calorier โ€“ love it. This is also looking cute. ‘smile

  18. Suzie says:

Though I’m not a fan of Chunky Monkey I do know someone that loves it. Your recipe sounds perfect for it too! I’m on facebook but, have no idea how to help you with what you want…sorry ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Glad your friend moved close ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. I’m always hungry after looking at your blog! ALWAYS! Facebook for blogs is pretty easy stuff. I’m sure you’ve found out how to make a page now and set it up cause there’s so many comments above me! To connect it, click the “social plug in” underneath someone else like box on the page and it takes you to the information to pop it anywhere you like. Hope this helps, if not, then give me a buzz anytime x

  20. Jasline says:

Congratulations my friend, you certainly deserve the award ๐Ÿ™‚ And the sundae is definitely something that I need right now as the weather here’s been really unbearable!

  21. navane64 says:

What a coincident Ms, I too started my recipe with the great word “Change” and here I see the same. If we don’t change, than we will be stagnant and always remain where we are.

Lovely ice-cream and that topping of the fruits makes it even more attractive.

I’m already drooling as I’m reading this post. As I’m a lifestyle blogger & not completely a food blogger, I didn’t participate in FoodBuzz publisher’s program, alto I’m with other food sites like Foodista etc. Well, u can find me in Facebook & I’d be happy to follow u too. It’s great connecting with u, dear! Congrats on the awards!

  24. Kimby says:

CCU, your latest ice cream photos were most welcome during our ongoing heatwave, but probably not the best post to read right before bed, lol — I’ll be dreaming of those butterscotch bananas all night! Congratulations on your double awards and thank you very much for sharing… ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. holy crap this looks incredible. I can’t believe you don’t like Chunky Monkey, that’s actually MY FAVORITE flavor. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ So wait, did you really have lunch with Mark? I’m very gullible, so maybe I didn’t get the joke in that. I’d love to know. :-)))) Damn, I wish I could work for facebook SOMEDAY!

  26. Dana says:

The ice cream looks and sounds delicious! I’m in the process of trying out facebook as well, but its not as easy as it looks, or maybe i’m just unhip to it…but I look forward to following you when I get there!

  27. This ice cream looks AMAZING! As you know, banana is my very favourite fruit… banana + nuts + chocolate = perfect dessert for me! Going to give this a try for my friends birthday party this weekend ๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks for sharing and good luck with setting up your facebook! I haven’t got a blog page yet, but when I get one I will be sure to share it with you.

  28. Okay, I’m totally a facebook addict, so if you ever need any advice, you’ve got my email. ๐Ÿ˜€ Let me know as soon as you get set up! My page is here:

PS- Butterscotch banana ice cream???? Really???? I love anything banana. I haven’t eaten chunky monkey, since I’m not a fan of nuts, but I can say I’m super surprised that my boys Ben & Jerry would use artificial flavoring. I’ll have a stern word with them. ๐Ÿ˜€

  29. kitchenriffs says:

I’m pathetic when it comes to FB. I set up my page wrong ( so I guess it’s more like a personal page. It’s worth doing because there are people that check FB and follow my blog through that. Me? I know which blogs I like, so I just go and check them out! But that’s me – social media just isn’t my thing. I’ll definitely like your page, though!

  30. I’m in awe…pure ice cream genius! I hadn’t heard about Foodbuzz, but then, I’ve been out of it for a while. Congrats on busting out the FB Page – will definitely Like you (as I already DO like you) once it’s up and running. You can find me in two places:
Trust me, you will not have any problem collecting fans like flies (nice, flies, of course)! All you have to do is announce it right here on your wonderful blog. xoxox

  31. Food Stories says:

Change is inevitable & It will be very interesting to see how the foodbuzz thing plays out. I see that the cooking actress (and probably many more) gave you some pretty good FB tips for getting started so I’ll refrain from adding to the pile. My FB page is & I’ll be happy to follow you once you get going ๐Ÿ™‚

  32. Kristina says:

I’m still so confused about the food buzz switch! So are we losing all our ‘friends’ on FB? I need to sign up for the Buzz Daily asap and figure this out!

    • Yeah, we are which is why I have subscribed to so many new blogs now ๐Ÿ˜›
I think even by signing up for it (which I did too), there is no ‘buzz’ option so I can’t say anything for certain!
Sorry my friend! ALso your email subscription is not working for me – is there anything I should do?

      Choc Chip Uru

  33. First, let me say that ice cream you made sounds like my cup of tea. Bananas, chocolate and nuts – yes! Secondly, I have not took the FB plunge yet. I’ll will be interested in seeing and hearing about your transition. I’m sure it is a great decision that you will wonder why you didn’t do sooner ๐Ÿ™‚

  34. Hotly Spiced says:

Of course I will like you once you are up and running. It’s another great way of keeping in touch. I’m sorry I can’t help with the technology side of things because it’s not one of my best skills but with you being a teenager I’m sure you’ll have no trouble finding someone who can help you. How exciting having a BFF living so close to home. And ice cream is a perfect house warming gift xx

  35. Ramona says:

I HATE CHANGE!!! I was just getting my footing and comfortable at Foodbuzz and now I have no idea how this dailybuzz stuff works. Plus they are taking away our “buzz”… well how can they call it daily buzz if we have no buzz options. Urgh!! As far as Facebook is concerned… if you have a personal account you can create a page for yourself via your personal account. Just scroll all the way to the bottom and it says “create page”. You can pretty much just follow the directions from there. You are much smarter and computer savvy than i am my dear so you will do fine. ๐Ÿ™‚

Now onto this lovely ice cream!! Mmmmmmm!! I love your CCU & PDS Housewarming rules. I agree with them 100%!

    • I feel your pain my friend – ugh, it is so annoying!!!!! Thank you for your help and I hope I can get the hang of it ๐Ÿ˜‰
So happy you enjoyed the ice cream too!

      Choc Chip Uru

  36. well I’m not at Facebook either, but if don’t mind you could follow my blog, twitter and pinterrest, I’m already following your blog by the way ๐Ÿ™‚ your ice cream looks delighful, it’s dangerous too by the way, I’m in complete fasting right now, and your ice cream makes me drooling a lot!

    • Haha no nope just joking about that – I felt I didn’t need a wink because of how outrageous the claim was but hey, thanks for thinking I am famous enough to lunch with him ๐Ÿ˜›

  37. eliotthecat says:

Sorry, I am very unhip and I know nothing about FB. It will be interesting to see how DailyBuzz works out. But, that ice cream sundae?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Unbelievable. That, my friend, worked out fine!

  38. Sophie33 says:

The ice-cream looks utterly delicious & well flavoured too, my friend! ๐Ÿ™‚ I am not on facebook. It isn’t just my thing:(
I love yyour creative writing a lot & smile a lot while reading this lovely post! ๐Ÿ˜‰ xxx

  39. Starr says:

HaHa! This weekend, I’ve been working on an ice cream-banana combo too. So I guess we’re still sharing a brain (for ice cream) ๐Ÿ™‚ Love the idea for butterscotch bananas (could eat that straight from the pan).

I have a Facebook page, Pinterest board, and twitter account for my blog. I think giving people multiple following options has widened my range of readers, as not everyone uses WordPress or wants to receive an email every time a post is published. It doesn’t seem to require a lot of attention, so you should definitely give it a try.

  40. Your icecream looks so amazing! I also think that the world is moving towards so many different types of social media that in one way it is very nice but in one way very difficult to consult with so many different locations to catch up with those we follow. In a perfect world we would all be in just one place. I have a facebook account a twitter and pin interest and just now have taken a dabble in Food buzz. I love keeping in touch with everyone but sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming.

  41. Too funny! Just got an ice cream maker in the mail Friday and made my first batch today. Husband loved it and then said: “you know what would be even better? Banana ice cream” so, I have looked for a recipe all day and when I finally get on the computer tonight……… is your post! It will be perfect sans the nuts – he doesn’t like nuts. Thank you! I”m glad you will be on FB – here’s my address:

So copy and post it into your browser. Or, if that doesn’t work, in the search line put in Kalamitykelli and my wonder woman pix will appear! Can’t wait to see you on there – KK

  42. mjskit says:

Don’t get me started on FB! I’m so pissed at it right now that I’m ready to shutdown my page. Most bloggers have a page for their websites, not personal blogs. The recent thing that really has me ticked off is that FB is now charging pages $5 per post for ALL of your LIKES to see the post. It currently is only sending out the post to a select few. That sucks! I was wondering why I no longer see the posts of most of the pages I have LIKED. O.K – enough of my rant! Chunky Monkey is my favorite Ben&Jerry’s! I absolutely LOVE the caramel banana twist ! I’ve got to make this!!!!!

    • Ugh, so I have been told my friend, it is so ridiculous! You have every right to be angry (I shall have to talk to Mark about this ;))
Thanks so much for enjoying my ice cream!!!!!!!!!

      Choc Chip Uru

  43. Deidre says:

I’m not a fan of Chunky Monkey either – because I’m not a huge banana fan – but this looks so yum! Also, I had no idea it was national ice cream month! I can’t believe I didn’t know.

  44. Why don’t I have an ice cream maker?! So sad!
I’m not on facebook either so I won’t be any help at all but you’ll have to let us know what you thnk of joining. I mean if Mark is suggesting it, it’s hard to say No : )

  45. Hi Uru, wow! I’m in love with that icecream, that and your butterscotch bananas too! As for the Facebook thing I know you can connect it through ‘publicise’ in WordPress. Aside from that I don’t know too much more!

Hope your bestie loves those treats ๐Ÿ™‚

  46. Oh wow, CCU! First of all, your ice cream and the photos look just amazing. Really major delish. You are so creative and talented. Second of all, I have a facebook fan page too. Living in the San Francisco area as I do, Mark (Zuckerberg) and I hang together a lot, and i can tell you the nice thing is now when you do a blog, you can post it to your fan page timeline and get more viewership. I’ll go now and like your fan page. To switch accounts for leaving comments and fanning/friending someone, just go to the Home button at the top right corner and on the little drop down menu, you can switch back and forth as you please. On my way to Like you right now. Mine is And lastly, but certainly not leastly, THANK YOU so much for the awards. I really appreciate it and am so glad you’ve enjoyed my blog.

  47. Looks awesome Uru! WHat a nice way to welcome your friend to the neighbourhood ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t have my blog on facebook yet- this would require me telling all my friends about my blog which I’m not ready to do yet ๐Ÿ˜‰

  48. PDS and CCU… you lucky pair hanging out together.. and walking distance, no less! I have facebook.. apparently now you have to pay to have more than 50 people (your “Like” followers) receive your updates.. or something like that?? I’m not 100% sure about all of it. I’ve got one and would love to add you.. but I continue to just post my blog posts on my regular Facebook as so many friends are too lazy to go to my Page and “Like”.. (or they don’t know how… we are older than you kids, you know;). I very rarely look at other posts on Facebook, which is why my followers haven’t really grown. I really love Pinterest, it’s simplicity and the lack of requirement to pin each other makes it much more relaxing. Twitter.. I have grown over the year.. but had to make “Lists” or I would lose the people I know.. like my local friends and my wordpress friends… xoxo Smidge

    • Wow I did not know that my friend, seems facebook is also becoming money oriented (but that what isn’t) – I want to get Pinterest and Tumblr but so many accounts, seems like no time for anything else ๐Ÿ˜‰
Thank you for your help though!

      Choc Chip Uru

  49. A_Boleyn says:

There aren’t enough hours in my day to keep in touch with people on FB, Twitter, blogs, LJ etc and still expect to do all the things I normally do in the real world so I’ve made a choice. LJ and a limited number of blogs. No Pinterest either. Cause I want to actually HAVE a life to talk about. ๐Ÿ™‚ So, I won’t be friending you on FB, nor following you on Twitter etc. Don’t be sad. I still like you … for real.

No more ice cream making for a while. I’m making Tex-Mex food today with the last of the breast from the 12 pound turkey I roasted a month ago. A big pot of turkey stock using the carcass is in the works for next week. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I understand completely my friend – that is why I have put off facebook for so many years! But now with the pressure and my lack of knowing events until last minute, it is best to have it ๐Ÿ˜‰
Now that is one HUGE turkey… I can’t even iimagine it in an oven ๐Ÿ˜›

My dear Guru Uru, Facebook and Twitter are things like for you guys. I opened an account with twitter but I am the worst in tweeting.I used to be on the Facebook and then deactivated it a year ago. I feel that Google+ is the best so I am sticking on to it.

the ice cream Sunday with roasted bananas, nuts and chocolate chips looks drooling!

  51. First, thank for the award, youยดre a sweet.
Second, I will like you on fb, but after that have no clue how to be of any further service (I discovered twitter 2 weeks ago so imagine my social media aptitudes…)
Love the ice cream, definitely has a bang! and can we have a virtual housewarming?? LOL

  52. cookingactress says:

You make an account on facebook (for you) and then you create a “page” for the blog. Then you can switch back and forth doing things as yourself or as the blog. To “like” other pages, make sure you are using fb as ur blog page and go to a url of a page you want to like (mine is and there will be a like button…click it ๐Ÿ˜›

    And that sundae looks deeeeeeeelish!

  53. That ice cream sundae looks amazing, I can’t believe you made the ice cream yourself! Except you *are* CCU and you *are* awesome, so I can ๐Ÿ™‚ I haven’t gotten a FB account for LLE yet and I don’t think it’s going to happen soon, because I feel like I’m busy enough with it between the blog, twitter, and pinterest – I don’t want my whole life to be taken over!
