Don’t tell me you have never done it before. Don’t go pushing your glasses up your nose and flicking an imaginary speck off your business suit. You are not making eye contact, just staring at your screen typing away, mouth set in a grim line while I accuse you. Don’t lie to me. I don’t know why you are lying to me. When everyone has done it before.
You look up at me sharply when I say that. You subtly look both directions before giving me a slight nod to continue. And I do.
As soon as I saw the finished result of these muffins,n the first thing I got reminded of were soldiers. A little rough and rugged looking when considering their appearance but so wonderful inside. While these muffins have a soft, butter cake dripping with caramelised fruit juices, the soldiers are proud and courageous with a patriotic spirit inside them. We respect them.
Ironic isn’t it, that I should make something that reminds me of soldiers so close to Remembrance Day (Nov. 11th)? I believe in fate and I like to believe there is a reasoning behind it…
I found these muffins in the Good Living section of the Sydney Morning Herald a while back actually. It sort of stuck out at me then and now, due to my almond meal dilemma and massive load of nectarines in the fridge, I decided to make them today 🙂
It’s apt don’t you agree that I should discover the delights of polenta at exactly the same time we get our new boat for the pool – THE EXPLORER 200?
While in the pool my bro and myself hope to discover treasure, sunken ships, mermaids and maybe the earring I lost last summer. We shall go on adventures way beyond the edge of the earth (the end of the pool) and we shall conquer all in our way (yeah, I’m looking at you dead bugs in the pool!)
We shall maneuver around the coral reefs and stay clear of huge rocks which would cause our boat to crash (deflate…)
