The Big V Day Musings

This recipe isn’t necessarily just for Valentines Day. I mean, as much as I hate to admit it, not everyone holds the capacity to eat a whole batch of cupcakes. No, not even me. But if you are one person, and you can make two moist, chocolatey cupcakes with just enough frosting to decorate it AND spoon the extra, why make any more?

The sweet, berry-filled frosting combined with the delicious richness of the cupcakes really does take these to a whole new level. If you are making them for Valentines Day though, I worn you. You might not be able to share it with your soul mate… legit. If they aren’t your soul mate, I wouldn’t even consider sharing them.

Consequence of Nostalgia

Alright, so I admit, I know a lot of you are a wee bit older than I am, so you might think I do not have the right to be nostalgic yet! And I do totally understand where you are coming from!

I mean, just the other day, I heard some random, overdressed twelvies in the city, complaining about how they wish their weekends weren’t so busy, full of netball, then dance class and then GOD FORBID, yet another party. Where is the time to do your maths timetables homework? 😛

More Gold Than Green…

It feels like Australia Day is never ending this year. Why?

DSC_0692 1

Because the hot, sweltering barbecue-eating, beach-swimming, singlet-wearing weather I associate with it is just not seeming to end! I cannot get over how golden the sun is.

And how hot the temperatures are, by Odin, by Thor, by Jupiter, by every ancient god ever, DAMN… it is hot.

Merry Christmas!

When friends come together, when family stays over and when there is a certain magic in the air as you hear ‘Love Actually’s’ soundtrack played on repeat in every store.

When snows falls in the north and the sun blazes in the south, when the summer solstice and winter solstice collide and when the songs of birds sound more melodious than ever.

When gift wrapped presents glint under trees, when Santas sell candy canes, furniture or booze and when many a Rudolph decorate the lawns of suburban houses.

CCU Undercover Diary: Patisserie New York

CCU was ecstatic. Alicia Key’s ‘Empire State of Mind’ was pumping through her mind as she took bite out of, bite out of, bite out of each delicious creation placed in front of her.

With her cape flying behind her, she sugar rushed up, up and away… all the way to the delights of New York…

Hello everyone! I’m Carla, from eat sweet. by carla sue. I just wanted to say a big thank you to Uru for allowing me to do a guest post for Go Bake Yourself! I actually emailed Uru to ask her how to ‘apply’ (hehe) to become a guest poster on her blog, and she told me that there were no applications necessary and she would put me on the list! I love following Go Bake Yourself (so many great recipes, all the time!), and Uru is such a wonderful supporter of my blog.

Cupcake Confession

Psychologist: These sessions seem to be getting tedious. I am afraid I will have to advance you to a higher level of help if you cannot tell me.

Patient:How will I tell you without you judging me? How can I tell anyone?

Psych: You must not bottle those feelings, they will crush you later in life and you will wonder why…

Patient: It is not that easy…

Psych: Once you let it out, it will be. Tell me.

Patient: *breathes in deep* Ok… I think… I think I am… a cup-, a cupcake… snob…

Psych: Oh… wait, so you came here for ten sessions because you wanted to tell me you. are. a. cupcake. snob…?

Wounded Soldiers

As soon as I saw the finished result of these muffins,n the first thing I got reminded of were soldiers. A little  rough and rugged looking when considering their appearance but so wonderful inside. While these muffins have a soft, butter cake dripping with caramelised fruit juices, the soldiers are proud and courageous with a patriotic spirit inside them. We respect them.

Ironic isn’t it, that I should make something that reminds me of soldiers so close to Remembrance Day (Nov. 11th)? I believe in fate and I like to believe there is a reasoning behind it…

21I found these muffins in the Good Living section of the Sydney Morning Herald a while back actually. It sort of stuck out at me then and now, due to my almond meal dilemma and massive load of nectarines in the fridge, I decided to make them today 🙂
