I’m A Newni Student!

You know, it may surprise, but I do still have the ability to bake. Shocking I know, but it happens occasionally that I now actually have the time to chuck my books to the side most respectably, put on my TARDIS apron (I know, cute.) and get out sugar, butter and chocolate 🙂

It may not seem like it, considering when you look at my homepage and all you can see is CCU Undercover hogging away the front page and all. You see, if I start speaking in Freudian terms, CCU in a way, is my Id. My unconscious, overwhelming desire to go out and eat at every restaurant, regardless of the penniless consequences to come. She is impulsive, and merciless in using a knife and fork.

The Good & The Bad

Before I start this post: Sorry the pictures are not too pretty, it is a little hard with black skinned bananas 😛

******************************************************************************

You know what? More often than not, if you have a really good run going on in life, there will be something bad to stop your flow. I am not saying something bull-charging-towards-you bad but each day has a bittersweet element.

Of course we have those days that everything is sweet but they are evened out by those days that everything is bitter no?

Happy Belated Anniversary To My Parents

What you learn to be the basis of a good marriage is often reflected by your parents. How they get along, work with each other as life partners is often subconsciously rubbed off on you and when your time comes, you try and act like that too. My time is very far off – it does not equal boy cooties (:P), more like a big framed picture of Leonardo Di Caprio from Titanic. Alright, if you insist I will hang that in my room.

But my parents, to me, seem like the perfect marriage. I don’t know if they believe in soul mates but I do and I know they are. They love each other, respect each other, regard each other and are the best of friends. And that is exactly what I wish to find someday. Leonardo was a little old but someday 😉

Happy 20th Anniversary Ma, Papa. If anyone deserves this tart it is you. The fact that you guys will willingly share this tart means you have the most solid of relationships.

I can’t begin to express how much I learn from and keep learning from you guys – the way you tease each other. The way you let go of each others’ faults and work around it. The way you show much you care for one another through the little things you do. A surprise present. Making a favourite meal. Going down at midnight to get the other some cereal or a cucumber sandwich.

Chocolate Chip Baking Week 4: Eggless White Sugar Chocolate Chip Cookies

Being Indian, I know many people who have an aversion to eggs – whether it be religious or personal choice. My own mother hounds me day after day due to the stench of ‘egg’ in the kitchen on freshly washed dishes. So I decided, for fun, to pop in an eggless chocolate chip cookie recipe – and there is no doubt that this recipe is a keeper.

While it would not be a grand prize winner in any of my categories, this is a really good practical recipe, easy to make desserts from as a base for example like: a Philadelphia style homemade ice cream sandwich, for those unable to eat egg – remember that aunty who can’t eat egg?

213Unlike the past chocolate chip cookie recipes made in this week already, these have a very crackly appearance due to the lack of binding agent and also have a crunchy, sugary exterior hiding a soft and chewy and utterly divine interior – similar to the brown sugar chocolate chip cookies but not that extent of softness.
