Sake Restaurant & Bar, Brisbane

Notice how I didn’t put a ‘CCU Undercover’ in front of this? Well, that’s because it was more like an entourage of bloggers scouring out the restaurant and being all spy like – not obvious at all with our cameras and lack of eating as soon as the food arrived 😛

After the Eat Drink Blog conference (whose photos I am STILL sorting through so pls. Bear with me :P), and just before my flight, I joined my new foodie pals on one last lunch time extravaganza 🙂

Who did I dine with? Well, the fabulous blogger/unofficial husband of mine, Vanny @Nessy Eater, the queen of photography and Instagram, Tammi @Insatiable Munchies and super bubbly/basically my twin Canberra blogger Eileen @The Food Avenue 😀

Awesome sauce company am I right? Joined by awesome sauce food, as you shall see!

CCU Undercover: IPPUDO Sydney

Classy location. Check.

Classy interior. Check.

Happily screaming welcome from the staff. Check.

There was no doubt in CCU’s mind that she most certainly had made it to the right restaurant. After all, IPPUDO was known for its unique atmosphere 😉

But just how unique, CCU pondered, was the food?

IPPUDO is located on the fifth level of the awesome Westfield shopping centre right in the heart of Sydney CBD. You meander through various cuisines all bunched up together, wondering where it could possibly be, before running into it a little to the side, away from the others.

And that is totally cool with everyone 🙂

CCU Undercover: Sushi Train, Dee Why

CCU makes no secret of the fact that she is IN LOVE with Japanese cuisine. What started out as a small, harmless infatuation, grew into a desire for sushi every night instead of roti and curry. Sigh… the pains of separation.

But due to these limitations of eating Japanese food at home, she tried her absolute utmost to eat it whenever she went out. Oh for the taste of soy sauce dribbling down a jasmine-rice stuffed seaweed roll.

Sigh… But at this particular Sushi Train she visited, she got a whole lot more Japanese cuisine than she anticipated…

Enter Dee Why. A cute little town located on the beach a 1/2 hr drive from the city, and a solid 1 hr drive from my suburb. Quaint and cute, the majority of the town’s shops are located along one central strip. Bounce through them, going from Thai, to Indian, to Subway, and suddenly, you arrive at Sushi Train. Yes, I know the majority of sushi selling Japanese restaurants are sushi trains, but this one really was called just that.

CCU Undercover: Yakiniku Koh-Ya Restaurant + Massive Giveaway!!! (Closed)

Ok, so before I begin writing about the *ahem* first AUTHENTIC Japanese barbecue restaurant in Sydney (yes, they are trusting normal civilians to play with fire and cook food), I have a massive announcement.

But before you get super excited, this applies only to Australian residents. (sorry international darlings of mine!)

There are times in life where you just want to see beauty unfold before your eyes. You want to see the colours come to life, the technique by which true art is created, and you want to sit back, relaxing in the talent.

On this one-off chance, you will also get to eat the art you see created!

Want to know, where, how and when? Well… In three weeks I am happy to announce that there is an incredible baking event being held, aptly named the

Cake, Bake & Sweets Show

From the 21st to the 23rd of March, Sydney Olympic Stadium will be filled not with sneakers and balls, but a range of whisks beating eggs, fondant being rolled out like red carpet and frosting painting the town red (or yellow, or green!) 😉

CCU Undercover: Tem Ichi Restaurant (Teppanyaki)

What am I, working overtime?

CCU sat back in her chair and stared at her computer, its screen splattered with photos of the night. She could hardly believe herself, going out so much and not giving a darn about reviewing everything and anything.

May as well get started, no use procrastinating now. With a stomach contentedly full and the light of dawn filtering through her venetian blinds, she sat back, cracked her fingers and began to type, as her mind raced back in time to a night of fans, frolicking and food.

Food being thrown at you.

***************************

Ok so for my 18th birthday, you will not even believe where a couple of my best friends took me. No seriously, I dare you to try and guess.

Oh, right, slight problem with my guessing game, I may or may not have already given you the answer with my title. Or maybe not? It is quite oriental, I didn’t even know it was called this until I went there!

HUNGRY! TT, Moi and PDS :D

HUNGRY! TT, Moi and PDS 😀

Teppanyaki. According to Wikipedia (of course, teachers, seriously I do not even understand why you are against it :P), it is a ‘style of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to cook food.’ Continue reading
