A Tale of Bad Drivers

These are the healthiest and tastiest little packages of vegetables you can come across. Steamed? Check. Not oily? Check. Full of veggies? Check. You could literally eat a basketful and it would still be acceptable. How do I know this? Well, because the first time I ever made this recipe, I basically ate that much, and I’m fine (if not better for it 😛 )

Read on for the recipe!

CCU Undercover: Millone’s Ristorante & Bar

Please donate to the Nepal Region Earthquake Appeal. I don’t think I need to give a reason why, and if you haven’t already done so, what are you waiting for? It doesn’t need to be big, just come from the heart. Everything counts.

***********************************

If I have learnt anything in my life, it is that Italian food offers the greatest source of comfort food, out of any other cuisine. I don’t know if it just me, but when it is wet, gloomy and I need some serious food hits, Indian curry or Asian noodles are not satisfying enough.

No, what I need is a big, wholesome plate of carb-loaded, sauce-fuelled pasta with some hunkering pieces of garlic bread on the side, topped off with a giant pizza (for one). So when we ended up at Millone’s late on a chilly, rainy and of course, windy, that craving was quite fulfilled…

CCU Undercover: Almond Bar

I’m sorry that this review wasn’t last post like i had planned, but I felt like I needed to write about the tragedy. Thanks for reading it and sharing your opinions and thoughts.

Now, onto nicer things… like HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! 😀 😀

And also… my review… 🙂

Tucked away in the central streets of Darlinghurst, with full view of St Vincent’s hospital, is a quaint tiny place that is BOOMING with Mediterranean flavour inspired by beautiful Syria. You enter, it is comfy, you sit down, you get nice service, you taste the food and BAM!

You never want to leave again. I got you with those capitalised words didn’t I? Admit it 😉

Read on for a full review of a small but tasteful restaurant…

CCU Undercover: Ginger Indian Restaurant

Boy, do I have a story to tell you guys. But for that I would need a recipe as well to share with you. So yes, just going to bide my time and wait for that. Sorry! But also, before I begin, thank you all for making me feel better last ‘post’!

Till I write about the above, how about I get that spice back up and on your screen with a review of what is now officially, my family’s favourite Indian restaurant. I have reviewed a couple before, but they don’t hold a candle to this.

And remember I’m Indian. So if we say this Indian place is that good, you know you better believe it! 😛

The Big V Day Musings

This recipe isn’t necessarily just for Valentines Day. I mean, as much as I hate to admit it, not everyone holds the capacity to eat a whole batch of cupcakes. No, not even me. But if you are one person, and you can make two moist, chocolatey cupcakes with just enough frosting to decorate it AND spoon the extra, why make any more?

The sweet, berry-filled frosting combined with the delicious richness of the cupcakes really does take these to a whole new level. If you are making them for Valentines Day though, I worn you. You might not be able to share it with your soul mate… legit. If they aren’t your soul mate, I wouldn’t even consider sharing them.

Plotting Against Myself

The filling in this tart is incredible. I mean, I have made it before, but I don’t I appreciated just how magnificent a frangipane filling is. And no, I do not mean my favourite flower (that has an ‘i’ not an ‘e’ at the end). The tart pastry is sweet and crumbles slightly when you cut it. It gives a bit of textural contrast against the melt-in-mouth almond filling, which is not gooey, but very soft after baking.

Almost imagine sweet shortbread with an under baked sponge cake on top. Gosh, it is hard to explain. Then in comes the slight tartness of the plums, whose juices are already running a little throughout the tart as well as from the icing sugar, and then the flavours explode in your mouth. Gorgeous 🙂

Eating Day @ Bondi Beach

Bondi Beach, contrary to it’s name, does not refer only to the vast expanse of golden sand. Rather, Bondi Beach encompasses a strip of streets, with more streets coming off said streets, weaving their way until you reach Bondi Junction. Where the massive shopping centre is and where the hipsters are, relatively, not so everywhere.

Classic.

But everywhere you go, always take the weather-

Wait sorry, I got carried away. But from everywhere you go, every street you walk, every shop you enter (don’t take me super literally here), you can see the shimmering ocean lapping at the sand on the beach. It is gorgeous. I feel like the idea of an Australian summer was created by Bondi Beach.

Now why can’t I show you a picture of said beautiful view. Because I was too busy eating my gelato. You’ll see. You already got a hint…

Virtually Silent

This decadent chocolate creations hides a surprise of strawberries stuffed between layers of moist, rich and crumby cake. The frosting was probably my favourite part of the recipe, being easy to spoon… I mean whip up… and it envelopes the strawberries in a warm chocolatey hug.

Then you get to devour it all.

Plain Cake

I don’t appreciate the story ‘The Ugly Duckling’.

But disclaimer, I’m not trying to insult Hans, hell no, I have a full on fancy illustrated version of all his stories for crying out loud!

This is just a little critique. But things may become slightly heated. Like a furnace.

A Hygienic Obsession (Giveaway – Ended)

Ok so this post was absolutely, 100% scheduled to be for the Christmas period. I was going to act like Santa, launching a giant sack over my back and Ho-Ho-ing till all of you guys were giggling – you know the drill!

But, my holiday mood kicked in and I got so busy, that the very ability to blog dried up and was forgotten in the corner, while holiday celebrations took centre stage. That along with other commitments means that now, I am making this a new years style giveaway and post for you.

You know, taking the whole new year-new you approach (as if that hasn’t been done before, but regardless, it’s all good!) 🙂
