CCU Undercover: Millone’s Ristorante & Bar

Please donate to the Nepal Region Earthquake Appeal. I don’t think I need to give a reason why, and if you haven’t already done so, what are you waiting for? It doesn’t need to be big, just come from the heart. Everything counts.

***********************************

If I have learnt anything in my life, it is that Italian food offers the greatest source of comfort food, out of any other cuisine. I don’t know if it just me, but when it is wet, gloomy and I need some serious food hits, Indian curry or Asian noodles are not satisfying enough.

No, what I need is a big, wholesome plate of carb-loaded, sauce-fuelled pasta with some hunkering pieces of garlic bread on the side, topped off with a giant pizza (for one). So when we ended up at Millone’s late on a chilly, rainy and of course, windy, that craving was quite fulfilled…

CCU Undercover: Almond Bar

I’m sorry that this review wasn’t last post like i had planned, but I felt like I needed to write about the tragedy. Thanks for reading it and sharing your opinions and thoughts.

Now, onto nicer things… like HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! 😀 😀

And also… my review… 🙂

Tucked away in the central streets of Darlinghurst, with full view of St Vincent’s hospital, is a quaint tiny place that is BOOMING with Mediterranean flavour inspired by beautiful Syria. You enter, it is comfy, you sit down, you get nice service, you taste the food and BAM!

You never want to leave again. I got you with those capitalised words didn’t I? Admit it 😉

Read on for a full review of a small but tasteful restaurant…

CCU Undercover: Ginger Indian Restaurant

Boy, do I have a story to tell you guys. But for that I would need a recipe as well to share with you. So yes, just going to bide my time and wait for that. Sorry! But also, before I begin, thank you all for making me feel better last ‘post’!

Till I write about the above, how about I get that spice back up and on your screen with a review of what is now officially, my family’s favourite Indian restaurant. I have reviewed a couple before, but they don’t hold a candle to this.

And remember I’m Indian. So if we say this Indian place is that good, you know you better believe it! 😛

A Peek Into Som Tam

Do you have a bucket list? Of course you have a bucket list, everyone has a bucket list! But CCU, being the strange little munchkin she is, actually has gazillions of bucket lists. Um, just off the top of her head, she has the 30-before-30 (shhh… top secret list!), she has the do-before-you-wed list, she has a 30-with-the-bestie list.

Lots of list, so little time!

She also has a bucket list of restaurants to visit in every restaurant in Australia. And a few restaurants on a global scale. Yes, CCU thinks big, but is that truly so wrong? 😛

So can you imagine her surprise when a restaurant she had on her bucket list from Melbourne asked her to do a review of their menu from all they offer? And try and share one of her recipes with you?

Bucket list magic, it works every time… 🙂

CCU Undercover: Candelori’s Ristorante e Bar

Have you ever been to a dessert tasting? Neither had I. Till Wasamedia (thank you so much!) invited me to one at one of Sydney’s up and coming Italian restaurants. To dine, blog and enjoy the company of others while in the vicinity of desserts that blow my mind.

Now, I want you to picture this – Italian Desserts. A wild and hungry CCU.

Hold me back, I says, hold me back!

Because after you see these desserts, you will see why I went a little crazy that night 😀

Sake Restaurant & Bar, Brisbane

Notice how I didn’t put a ‘CCU Undercover’ in front of this? Well, that’s because it was more like an entourage of bloggers scouring out the restaurant and being all spy like – not obvious at all with our cameras and lack of eating as soon as the food arrived 😛

After the Eat Drink Blog conference (whose photos I am STILL sorting through so pls. Bear with me :P), and just before my flight, I joined my new foodie pals on one last lunch time extravaganza 🙂

Who did I dine with? Well, the fabulous blogger/unofficial husband of mine, Vanny @Nessy Eater, the queen of photography and Instagram, Tammi @Insatiable Munchies and super bubbly/basically my twin Canberra blogger Eileen @The Food Avenue 😀

Awesome sauce company am I right? Joined by awesome sauce food, as you shall see!

CCU Undercover: IPPUDO Sydney

Classy location. Check.

Classy interior. Check.

Happily screaming welcome from the staff. Check.

There was no doubt in CCU’s mind that she most certainly had made it to the right restaurant. After all, IPPUDO was known for its unique atmosphere 😉

But just how unique, CCU pondered, was the food?

IPPUDO is located on the fifth level of the awesome Westfield shopping centre right in the heart of Sydney CBD. You meander through various cuisines all bunched up together, wondering where it could possibly be, before running into it a little to the side, away from the others.

And that is totally cool with everyone 🙂

Party In The USA – Part II

So, I waasss enjoying the last days of my holiday in Belgium and Paris, eating chocolate while I being drawn like a French girl 😉 – but now back to reality and I’m home.

With my buddy… Jetlag.

Buuuut that is all good cos I am ready to bake more than ever before uni starts in one month – eek!

Until then, read on about my previous holiday 😀

***********************

Ok, so I name this post ‘Party in the USA’ to go along with the theme from my last post about my last trip… but to be quite honest, this post should be called Party In The Caribbean because that is what it was!

CCU Undercover: Tem Ichi Restaurant (Teppanyaki)

What am I, working overtime?

CCU sat back in her chair and stared at her computer, its screen splattered with photos of the night. She could hardly believe herself, going out so much and not giving a darn about reviewing everything and anything.

May as well get started, no use procrastinating now. With a stomach contentedly full and the light of dawn filtering through her venetian blinds, she sat back, cracked her fingers and began to type, as her mind raced back in time to a night of fans, frolicking and food.

Food being thrown at you.

***************************

Ok so for my 18th birthday, you will not even believe where a couple of my best friends took me. No seriously, I dare you to try and guess.

Oh, right, slight problem with my guessing game, I may or may not have already given you the answer with my title. Or maybe not? It is quite oriental, I didn’t even know it was called this until I went there!

HUNGRY! TT, Moi and PDS :D

HUNGRY! TT, Moi and PDS 😀

Teppanyaki. According to Wikipedia (of course, teachers, seriously I do not even understand why you are against it :P), it is a ‘style of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to cook food.’ Continue reading

CCU Undercover: Enigma at the Piazza

CCU cracked up once again while watching Big Fat Greek Wedding. The popcorn was flying around as she clutched her stomach and she tipped over her drink in a rush to grab the remote and rewind to the scene where Aunt Voula thinks lamb is not meat!

She began to dream about her own Greek wedding. Despite not being Greek and not knowing any Greek men. Hmmm… So she settled for the next best thing and found a darling new Greek restaurant hidden to the side of the Piazza of her local shopping haven…

******************************

The name is just so fitting for this restaurant. Located right on the edge of the Piazza, it is not the most obvious making it quite mysterious 😉

I suppose it is also more mysterious because of the cuisine it serves. How many of you actively know Greek cuisine inside out (If you are Greek, refrain from answering!) and say, ‘Oh, I want to go eat Greek tonight.’
