Getting S’more Out Of Life + Giveaway! (Closed)

Bonjour tout le monde, I am finally back! After a slew of incredible guest posts, it is nice to be back behind my screen typing away! And today, I feel a bit like Santa as well so throughout this post, I may be belting out HO HO HOOOOOO periodically! 😀

Now as you all know, the holiday season is quite literally looming on the horizon. The christmas wreaths adorn every corner of every shopping centre, along with giant trees dripping in baubles. Candy canes and advent calendars are all I see when I shop, and in every cafe, there are hunking pieces of christmas cake being sold, some so hard you could break your teeth.

Aaah… classic holiday season. 🙂

But the month of December, at least here down under, also means heat. Temperatures exceeding 40 degrees C (AC time anyone?) and humidity that wraps around you to almost suffocate you at times, till the rain comes down and washes it away for a few hours. But along with the heat, comes the summer holidays. And everyone knows summer holidays means going out, into said heat, and busting out the picnic table, the golden gaytimes, the cricket bats and the aeroguard protection.

Eat Drink Blog 2014: A Recap

I swear, what even am I doing… Is this site called ‘Go Review Yourself?’ Ugh, I wish I could apologise and say it is my fault for being lazy but I swear, between organising exchange, failing miserably to do well at my uni work (jokes, failing to DO my uni work) and in general social stuff, I haven’t the time right now to bake 😥

But this summer, HOO BOY, this summer, I have a list steadily building up… If you want food I suggest you drop by whenever you want at my place because baked goods aplenty, je te promesse! (FYI I probably conjugated this wrong or misspelt it :P)

But I have told you about Sofitel, I introduced you to Sake, but you still have no idea what went down in Brisbane right? That’s because there have been SO many photos to sort through that I haven’t been able to do it in a night 😛

I went a little snap happy… hehe… hehehe… ANYWAY, deranged laughter aside, here is a little recap of one of the most exciting weekends  I have ever had!

CCU Undercover: Three Williams

CCU got off at the wrong bus stop. Typical. What else would you expect from a girl with a big reliance on google maps, a lack of direction and a stomach that had barely been fed since breakfast.

Huffing and puffing, but blowing down no houses, she marched up Elizabeth St. Then down it. Then up again… where was she going? Finally, her google maps gave her a little relief and started working again, leading her to the cafe.

Classically of course, she almost missed it. But that iconic symbol caught her thank GOD and she hustled her way down the steps and into the sweet smelling paradise.

CCU Undercover: Wild Pear Cafe

CCU sometimes overlooks the fact that in her sleepy, beautiful suburb, there is actually a lot of awesome cafes. She dreams of living in the big city, but just 10 minutes away, she didn’t realise there was a gem. God, she could be so blind sometimes!

That’s how she found herself on yet another sleepy, rainy morning, her whole family going to this cafe for Fathers Day! She was studying for exams, so unfortunately, she still owed her daddy baked goods, but until then, forcing her family to try this cafe wasn’t the worst way to go at all 🙂

CCU Undercover: Heston For Coles Launch

CCU was just feeling… dandy… honestly she didn’t know any other way of saying ‘utterly excited beyond actual words’ in a single word! After all, dandy should not even be considered a word, it is just that… jolly.

Making it perfectly natural for her to use it. But… anyways (gosh, CCU has an awful habit of going off on tangents), she had recently been invited to the launch for an incredible, incredible chef’s new range of take-home meals.

Thus said feeling of dandy. She didn’t even bother grabbing her trench for this event, it would just slow her down…

If you are my Facebook friend, or follow my Facebook page, then you probably saw a photo come up – that is from the launch for Heston Blumenthal, one of the most creative and successful chefs in the existence of all chefs!!! 😀

I love you guys, you know I do, but I am not going to lie. if you have not heard of Heston, I believe you may be living under a rock.

A rather large rock at that. But I suppose you could always toss it aside and go stalk his career on the internet 😛

Why is such a success? Heston Blumenthal (I’m sorry, it’s just… his name is so cool!) has a mind that works with food like no other. He has studied molecular gastronomy, has worked with Oxford psychologists to understand the psychological aspect of eating, and, is a self-taught chef yet, who has interned at some stage with some of the biggest names in the industry.
