A Very Merry Holiday With A Hot Fudge Sundae

Well, here we are at the end of 2011. What has happened for me?

  • I started this blog (YAY)’
  • I had my year 10 formal (woohoo!)
  • I turned 16 (the age of party, driving etc.)
  • I explored and became part of my baking – it is no longer a hobby, it is in my blood 🙂

Sounds like a pretty satisfying year to me? But what about you my dear readers – this year came and went so quickly – what happened for all of you? A marriage, a family addition? A celebration of some sort?

I am sure that whatever happened, 2011 was a year of goodwill, cheer and fabulous times for all of you – how else could it possibly have gone so fast?

Now, I do believe the Aztecs have predicted that the end of world is upon us in 2012. Specifically, “The Mayan calendar comes to an end on Sunday, December 23, 2012”http://www.greatdreams.com/end-world.htm
How creepy that that is exactly 1 year and 1 day away!!! *Shudders*

Chocolate Chip Baking Week 10: Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is warning: For those looking for another ice cream machine using, creamy, dreamy dessert in this post, let me promptly link you to here. For those looking for a recipe that is quite out of the ordinary, please stay and read on 🙂 When I found this recipe on Picky Palate, I was intrigued for sure but definitely not surprised since fabulous food blogger Jenny comes up with random, delicious creations all the time! Looking through this recipe, she basically omitted some sugar and purposely lacked some liquid-y ingredients in order to make way for the batter to include a nice big heap of ice cream in it. Yes, imagine eating cool and refreshing and creamy ice cream but in dough form. 319Sounds heavenly? Tastes heavenly – something I should know by the many spoonfuls small tastes I sneaked throughout the stirring and mixing process. Continue reading

Chocolate Chip Baking Week 9: Chocolate Chip Cookie Milkshake (Thickshake)

I got the idea from here – those are some talented and creative cooks at Two Peas & Their Pod! But that is where the similarities end between my milkshake creation and theirs… and that is a good thing for me 😛

Let me put one thing straight – I cannot consider this a milkshake. This is a THICKSHAKE. My straw was having trouble slurping this up so I basically ended up scooping it out and eating it with a spoon – and it was so worth it! Vying for the ‘Most Creative Chocolate Chip Dough/Cookie’ section winner, I can’t say this beats that double chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream (perhaps since I am a little partial to ice cream…) but it came very close.

118See, I was a little apprehensive about this shake. Ever tried Max Brenner’s Cookie Shake? It tastes like Oreo cookies crumbled and drowned in a porridge consisting of rolled oats, weetbix and that gross Up ‘n’ Go! *Shudders*

Chocolate Chip Baking Week 6: Double Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream

“Baby, you light up my world like nobody else”

My latest obsession of a song, it totally conveys my emotions felt towards this ice cream. Ever since formal, this song has been running through my head on repeat and when I made this ice cream, I felt like screaming this song into the sky. No joke.
The only difference is that this song definitely knows it’s beautiful. It ain’t looking at the ground (that would be sacrilege) and it doesn’t have hair to flip (uh, gross?) and boy, can everyone in the room see that it is beautiful.

63Needless to say, this has kicked out the delicious Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes out of the ‘Most Creative Chocolate Chip Dough/Cookie’ category because, honestly, I don’t think anything could ever compete. Or, perhaps eating this ice cream on top of the Mini Chocolate Chip Cheesecakes could 😛

Popping My Ice Cream

An undoable feat?

I think not.
Almost Bourdain thinks not.
Skye from Masterchef Australia thinks not.
And that is why this ice cream is so swaggering-ly cool.

I am a firm believer in trying new things and sometimes even strange ideas – combining flavours people don’t really expect will give such a positive kick until you tell them afterwards (I put a hint of cinnamon in my mum’s tea once and she loved her tea – I should probably tell her, though I have not done it since)

36This is why you will barely ever see me make the same recipe twice unless it is my staple, and even then I will probably adapt it in some way. I do believe the only recipes I have made and stayed with have been my staple original chocolate chip cookies (which could change due to my upcoming cookie dough baking week) and my brownies from Masterchef.

First Ever Ice Cream Maker Ice Cream

Yes. You heard me right. Guess who got the most amazing ice cream maker in the history of ice cream makers? Oh right, me 🙂

37

I think we can all safely say that I won’t feel like buying store bought anymore because homemade ice creams are fresher AND easy to make!

18Since this was the first time I did learn a couple of things which I wasn’t too sure of like

Super Crazy Milkshake #1: Milo

This is absolutely, definitely the last thing I make – I must not let baking distract my person! But dam, if I want to have something to lift me off my feet, this is the one!

I am not even going to give you a recipe for this. Just the inspiration which was from this brilliant genius of a blogger!!!

dn

Honestly, hands up who has ever put in cereal when they make a milkshake? I have gone so far as to use chocolate and caramel ice cream, mars bars, chocolate syrup and homemade excess caramel syrup from this cheesecake but something as simple as beautiful cereal never even occurred to me!
