CCU Undercover: Hot Star Large Fried Chicken

Before I begin, sorry this post is so late! I had my mid-semester break (in which no study was done of course… but socialising aplenty…) and then I went on psych camp (party fest) so I was kind of tired and out of it and still am a little 😛

Getting back into routine is super hard! Anyways, I’m back for now 😀

CCU was vegetarian. She knew it her, friends knew it but unfortunately, the lovely PR lady did not. She hesitated in contacting her… should she ask her? Would she be offended? It’s not that chicken did not sound utterly incrediballs, it was just that she was vegetarian…

Sucking in a large breath, she typed in her response and waited… PING! Response received…. she could still visit the hottest chicken store in Sydney! And with her brother acting as an honorary tester 😀

This should be no new news to anyone honestly because so many wonderful bloggers have covered this store, but here I am to spread the word about the glorious store known as Hot Star!!!

This Taiwanese takeaway has been building up its fan-base in the wonderful city of Melbourne, and is now slowly working it way up Australia’s border, now entering Sydney – I know so many people, even before I went, who visited straight after it opened.

Happy Easter 2014!!!

I love Easter. Really, I truly just love this holiday 🙂

Christmas is awesome, Diwali is beautiful, but coming from someone who is nicknamed Choc Chip Uru, Easter is my heaven!!!

If it isn’t already obvious, it is because I am given a 4 day weekend of a holiday to enjoy eating chocolate. Since I am not religious, that is what, on base value, Easter means to me 😀

And I have some amazing memories associated with this festival! I mean, when chocolate is involved 24 hours a day for 4 days of the week, how can it not be right?

I’m A Newni Student!

You know, it may surprise, but I do still have the ability to bake. Shocking I know, but it happens occasionally that I now actually have the time to chuck my books to the side most respectably, put on my TARDIS apron (I know, cute.) and get out sugar, butter and chocolate 🙂

It may not seem like it, considering when you look at my homepage and all you can see is CCU Undercover hogging away the front page and all. You see, if I start speaking in Freudian terms, CCU in a way, is my Id. My unconscious, overwhelming desire to go out and eat at every restaurant, regardless of the penniless consequences to come. She is impulsive, and merciless in using a knife and fork.

CCU Undercover: Cake, Bake & Sweets Show Part #3

And here we are, finally, after so long, writing the end of this show. It did go on for three days, so just be grateful I am only writing on one day, otherwise you would have a 9 part series 😉

Following on from my last Cake, Bake & Sweets show post, I had just finished lunch and my mumsical and I were wondering where to hit next.

Suddenly, I got a phone call and being part of the ‘media’ finally gave an advantage. I HAD AN INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITY WITH ERIC LANLARD!!!

The guy I had just seen make a caramel masterpiece was willing to talk to a lowly, makes average cakes blogger like me *swoon*

No, no… I had to keep my cool. So I went up to the totally exclusive green room where there were other staff members relaxing from the stress of running this show! Kicking back with tea and coffee, the publicist who had taken me there kindly told us to feel free to get fruit or coffee from the refreshments table.

CCU Undercover: Izakaya Samurai Restaurant

CCU had been so busy of late, she had had no time to bake at all! Uni this, uni that, reading this, assignment that, honestly it felt like her Saturday nights were god sent!

One Saturday night, she decided enough was enough, so calling up two friends, she decided to whisk them down to Neutral Bay to enjoy a nice hearty Japanese dinner.

CCU and her friends certainly got a lot more than just hearty, delicious food…

Before we even began our eating journey, I was completely out of the whole ‘driving to Neutral Bay’ thing, so we left a little extra early, arriving therefore half an hour early before our booking.

Oops 😛

Well.. no it really wasn’t an oops, because my mates and I (I have been requested to call them ‘Tofu Master’ and ‘Honorary Vegetarian’ – you shall see why… :P) trawled down the main road…

CCU Undercover: Cake, Bake & Sweets Show Part #2

And here I am again, following my first post  about the Cake Bake & Sweets Show, with more food porn to share with you and lots more stories to tell. I did mention that there was a celebrity incoming no? 😉

Yes, that’s right, I managed to get a reasonably good seat to view a live demonstration by Eric Lanlard, off Baking Mad!!!

Part of the Lifestyle Food’s All-Star Theatre, he was there with the likes of Adriano Zumbo (who he happily ribbed throughout his baking due to his popularity!!), Duff Goldman and more!! Super charming, super French, super accented and an amazing baker, you can see why he was included in this A-list class of professional sweeties (if you know what I mean :D)

This was definitely the most popular area, as stars were continuously doing demonstrations here. There were people sitting, standing, recording, staring and everything else, as they mixed ganache like a pro! A large stage, a very fabulous presenter and a cheeky camera man definitely completed the atmosphere that built up there!
