Superfoods #3: Chia Seeds

Just a reminder, my newest giveaway is still running so if you haven’t entered already, go right ahead šŸ˜€

*****************

How lucky am I? A couple of days back, Justin fromĀ Cheap Super Foods Australia, contacted me, asking me to try some wonderful up and coming raw, organic ingredients from their huge range. As if I could turn down a huge opportunity like that! I know many bloggers, especially Vegan, focusing on all these new foods, so I knew I had plenty of inspiration to start making recipes.

But what are superfoods? Why is using them considered ā€˜superā€™ but using caster sugar, isnā€™t? We are not being ingredient-ist here, but the term ā€˜superfoodsā€™ means that particular ingredient has been classified asĀ ā€œFood with high nutrient andĀ phytochemical content that may confer health benefits. It has few negative properties if any, considering it is highly unprocessed (natural), does not contain contaminants, saturated fats, artificial ingredients or food additives.ā€ ā€“Ā Wikipedia

When I say ā€˜phytochemicalsā€™, I mean naturally occurring beneficial chemical compounds in plants, such as antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and polyphenol. I used this think anything ā€˜organicā€™ equated in some way, to marijuana and hippie food, tasting like dirt despite any ā€˜benefits.ā€™ Since I started food blogging, I have learnt a heck of a lot about all of it, and am glad to learn that is not the case! šŸ˜€

  3. Chia Seeds

Letā€™s begin making raw, organic, totally delicious desserts shall we?

Wishing For Spring

We are finally in our last month of winter. So long tall naked trees all wrinkled and gnarly. Goodbye mittens, beanies and oversized furry jumpers. Au revoir warm pancakes and French toast in the morning. Actually, I will be generous. The last ones can stay šŸ˜‰

I am feeling Springy. Yes, it is not even close to September but I think I may have caught the totally-clichƩd-but-much-loved Spring fever. Admittedly I am not running around cleaning the house (because honestly, spring cleaning is what?) but I am certainly drifting off into daydreams of flowers, puppies and rainbows.

Helping Snow White

So the other night, the Disney Princesses had this girly-girl, no fancy-shmancy husband princes allowed slumber party! All the cool princesses were allowed, not those 21st century ones, I mean, Ariel wanted to invite them but that is only because she met the Frog Princess while she was a Frog.Ā  Not the done thing at all (because that froggy smell still stuck to her… poor thing :P)

Anyway, here are the invites:

CCU Undercover: Moo Gourmet Burgers

After the last classy, sophisticated walk through the sands, CCU needed a break. She came home that night to a dimly lit apartment, her stomach full and her food heart (yes, she has two hearts, one for loving food and one for loving people) content.

She kicked off her high heels, wishing for ugg boots and jeans on her next outing. ‘Who needs evening dresses?’ she thought to herself, though deep down it was her exhaustion speaking.

Slumped, she fell asleep only to dream of the most perfect burger. Soft, fluffy with a filling so fresh, McDonald’s could legitimately be sued.
And now she shares her quest of finding and enjoying this dream burger with you all in another:

Simple Pleasures Of Life

You remember when I tried to be silent and it did not work at all? Today I am going to try it again, not for my benefit or yours but to appreciate the simple pleasures of life. You know how some people just ask you to shut up stop talking and look at the world. Here’s looking at the world.

Now (soon), I am going to be the shut-upee stop talking FOR REAL for one post and make this a picture post which will uplift you, revive you and enchant you. Who can resist puppies with photoshopped eyes or a rainbow so vivid, you could actually find that pot of gold? šŸ˜€
The real pleasure in life no?

I totally took each one, they are from Google images but I hope you enjoy every single one.Ā  I chose them because they made me laugh, smile or giggle and to me, nothing beats a good grin so I hope it gives a pleasure to you all too šŸ™‚

Technical Jargon

Html, A-C control panel, ctrl + shift – THERE IS TOO MUCH OF THIS! At least, inside my head right now and it is spinning 100% out of control. Megabyte, gigabyte, kilobyte – can someone just hand me an aspirin right now?

I pride myself on knowing a little bit about computers. I did not believe myself to be technically impaired when it came to them until I started blogging. Sure, figuring WordPress out was a little bit of a hassle, but now I have made some monumental computer decisions which I need you for! šŸ˜€

Peculiar-But-Cool Habits

Before I begin this post, I just wanted to link you all to a foodie interview I was lucky enough to do on the awesomely talented Maureen’s blog, The Orgasmic Chef!

If you want, you can check it out here – It was such a fun experience and I just wanted to shout out a big thank you to you Maureen for asking me šŸ˜€
An awesome experience šŸ™‚

*************************************************************************
Now let the post begin šŸ˜‰

What do you do that’s a little… off. Do you wear your shirt backwards because you like that side better, eat jam on both sides of your toast and secretly fancy 2 minute artery-clogging meals?

I am so totally not saying those are my secret habbits. Remember I am asking you šŸ™‚

Personally, I think it is awesome to have little, how do I put this, eccentricities which make you totally unique. My family, as all families, are full of them šŸ˜€
Today I would like to show you one of my dad’s which he has genetically passed down to me. Parents, sheesh, whatcha gonna do with ’em? šŸ˜‰

Nothing Says Thank You Like Ice Cream

My blog now is almost half a year old. Even as I say it I cannot believe how much it has grown since then. From grotty pictures and posts which lasted one paragraph to a slightly more sophisticated style of photography and ultra long posts which I sincerely hope entertain you.

It is necessary though to say that I would never have lasted so long if it weren’t for all of you – the food blogging community – and my friends and family (who go without saying :D)

The Proper Way Of Dealing With School Blues

Before I begin this post, let me get one thing straight. I do not depression eat. But I am a baker (so you have seen throughout my holidays) and therefore am in dire need of relieving my deflated self at the thought of going back to school. And it is no longer just school. It’s senior school. And whoever I talk to jumps to the conclusion that being senior school, I am in for the tough.

I didn’t say Year 12, I said Year 11. Remember?

622But it does freak me out a little – a 17 year old me, peer support to little year sevens when I myself can remember that not-too-distance past? Hopefully getting my P-Plates. Ok, now I might need to eat because my heart rate has accelerated. Breathe… relax and remember – I can bake to relax šŸ™‚
