Frazzled

I am literally all over the shop. A metaphorical shop of course, I would love to own a little business though someday… Ok, I am being tangential once more, I told you I am all over the place! 😛

Yesterday, was quite literally (FYI, I will be using literally quite a bit in this post) the first day in ages I haven’t done anything. I sat at home, I watched Fawlty Towers and I ate so much junk food my head started turning.

It was literally, the best day ever. 😀 #noregrets

Perspective

You know sometimes I have to question why I am still blogging? Have you, all you wonderful bloggers out there, ever felt like that? Sometimes I feel like I am blogging not for myself, not for my love of baking, but to give the audience what I perceive they want.

I have to stop then.

I have to take a step back and survey my surroundings. Blogging for me is not a career choice, it is quite literally, a hobby. Some people pay for dance classes? I pay to keep a website running. Some people decide to go out every night. Some nights, I prefer my pyjamas and baking 😛

So why is it that sometimes, I feel pressured to post? I hate the feeling of forced typing, where my words don’t flow, and I don’t put my diary-talk into a post. Can you tell the difference? Though for the most part, I will be honest with you and provide a bigger slew of food porn than usual instead of words 😉

Superfoods #3: Chia Seeds

Just a reminder, my newest giveaway is still running so if you haven’t entered already, go right ahead 😀

*****************

How lucky am I? A couple of days back, Justin from Cheap Super Foods Australia, contacted me, asking me to try some wonderful up and coming raw, organic ingredients from their huge range. As if I could turn down a huge opportunity like that! I know many bloggers, especially Vegan, focusing on all these new foods, so I knew I had plenty of inspiration to start making recipes.

But what are superfoods? Why is using them considered ‘super’ but using caster sugar, isn’t? We are not being ingredient-ist here, but the term ‘superfoods’ means that particular ingredient has been classified as “Food with high nutrient and phytochemical content that may confer health benefits. It has few negative properties if any, considering it is highly unprocessed (natural), does not contain contaminants, saturated fats, artificial ingredients or food additives.” – Wikipedia

When I say ‘phytochemicals’, I mean naturally occurring beneficial chemical compounds in plants, such as antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and polyphenol. I used this think anything ‘organic’ equated in some way, to marijuana and hippie food, tasting like dirt despite any ‘benefits.’ Since I started food blogging, I have learnt a heck of a lot about all of it, and am glad to learn that is not the case! 😀

The wonderful folks from Cheap Super Foods sent me three different 250g samples:

  1. Cacao Powder
  2. Coconut Sugar
  3. Chia Seeds

Let’s begin making raw, organic, totally delicious desserts shall we?

Shortcuts

Shhh
can I tell you a secret?

Shut the doors, don’t you dare touch that phone because what I am about to publicly reveal on the internet for the world to see must remain absolutely private ok?

IMG_4611

I am totally putting my trust in you all here ok, my reputation could potentially shatter into a million pieces with any wrong, sudden moves

But I do have reasons behind my actions, please tell me you will not judge, I personally would consider it a touch unfair. But then again, I can only convince you with my words as opposed to pleading.

Triple C Dairy Competition

Actually Written: Term 3 2011

This was actually an in-school thing for my food tech
class. We entered a Dairy Competition and the group I was part of decided to
make cheesecakes. And this is truly our own recipe! It is an awesome batter,
one orange and one chocolate swirled together served with chocolate sauce,
Jaffa candy and candied orange.

I think we did brilliantly!!!
