Psshaw to the Eiffel Tower Christmas 2010

Actually Written: Term 4 2011

A Coles recipe gone brilliantly right!!! Awww, no that’s mean, a LOT of Coles recipes are good (like the mousse cake), just some I always
find very weird…

Anyway back to this AMAZING Meringue Tower. So easy. So stunning. So cool. So stare-worthy. Yeah, you know it’s true. Basically, we cut
out a cone shape from an A3 sized cardboard sheet (make sure the cone has a level base), stuck it on a box-thick cardboard slate covered with aluminium and
voila, we are ready to stick. Now we made 1 colour meringues, and used/ate m&ms, maltesers, smarties – any chocolate candy really. On top of the cone, we nipped of the tip and forced the
stand of a Christmas decoration on top for a tree-like effect (not that such a
tree would ever even last till Christmas Morn…)

Fond-[ant]-ly Remembering Christmas 2010

Actually Written: Term 4 2010

At the end of 2010, our food tech class went absolutely nuts! My teacher is brilliant, creative and totally not lazy so she organised a ton of awesome
Christmas cooking activities! Thank You, Mrs D!!!

One such was a Christmas fruitcake (non-alcoholic ;P)
It was such a cute, adorable little baby with a brilliant recipe (we gave the pretty cake to our neighbour so I only tasted the batter – not really a shame)
The fondant rolling, colouring and just general working was absolutely brilliant though!!! It was such a new experience that was messy and all hands-on (a.k.a I
LOVED IT!)

Cupcake Takes Over Pie

Actually Written: Term 3 2011

Yep, this Lemon Meringue Cupcake was a school Food Tech class extraordinaire of an
item – a true love for me (and without chocolate too!) Sweet cupcakes with a
surprise lemon curd filling (store bought but seriously, just use a homemade
version – probably from the lemon meringue pie!). I tweaked the recipe here and
there because well, for one thing, there was a lack of curd – 1/2 cup for 12
cupcakes are you serious? I also added 1 tbs lemon juice to a very lemony muffin since it was very sweet.

123

Overall, a dam good imitation of a pie without being the
classic pie. Doesn’t make much sense but when you make it, I promise it will.
Oooh, and my awesome teacher brought in her blowtorches – We could have sold
our end results at a cupcake bakery (or even THE cupcake bakery because they
all looked so fabulous! – well, most of them…)

Mr Cream-Cheese Married Miss Muffin

Actually Written: 21st May 2011
My family, especially my mum, was not too keen on these. Only my grandpa and I are
cheesecake fans and mum didn’t want cheesecake tasting muffins with her tea.
But I made them anyway. And the weirdest thing was discovered!
Cream Cheese Muffins don’t give a cream cheese flavour. They simply make the batter
so much better than normal muffins!!!

Oh my gosh, the fluffiness of these muffins, the fruity
batter, the moistness made me  squeal with delight like a 5 year old.

Happy 16th Cheesecake, I mean Birthday 2011

Actually Written: 4th August 2011

Aaaah, my piece de resistance (sans accents!) for this party. Rich. velvety. Caramel.
Honeycomb. Cheesecake. The perfect end to a perfect night making a horror movie
not so scary but oh so Rich. velvety.

83

I cannot describe the texture and overall brilliance of
this cake. All I can tell you is that it finished at my party and my mum was
scraping the cake closh for crumbs because she loved it so – thank you for this recipe!

And my mum doesn’t adore cheesecake. Scary, I know… =D

This will surely awaken any dead man…

Actually Written: August 4th 2011

Expect a couple of rotten hands knocking on your door for sure. This was one of the most popular dishes at the party which were so dam
delicious that people were asking for more and more!!!

Caramel oozing out of them at all corners, slightly warmed and pots of chocolate fondue right next to it….awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

I have never had a Dulce de Leche brownie but from what I
have heard of its ooey-gooey goodness, this is not too far off the mark. New
Mental Note: Make Dulce de Leche Brownies…ASAP

Some tips on this perfectly decadent piece of decadence:

Baking snakes is not good in a cake…

Actually Written: August 4th 2011

That is why this is a NO-BAKE Snake Cake.

Well, this was one of those cakes that looks too good to eat – that’s when you KNOW it is an awesome recipe

16

This cake was actually much easier than I thought – I
figured all this icing was bound to kill and it was difficult to handle at
first admittedly, but as time progressed the snake ‘skin’  just got smoother and smoother (and covered
with chocolate peanut M&Ms…yum!!!)

Dear me, I think I gained 5 kilos…

Actually Written: 28th September 2011

Please don’t be scared off this post! Let’s say (for my sake at least) that it is
holiday season, everyone gains weight then!

You see, my explanation is very simple. When you make fudge, you eat it. Is my
philosophy wrong? No? Didn’t think so.

Now, when you make caramel fudge, you do not eat it (don’t hit me yet) – You devour it.
You scrape the saucepan’s warm sweet not-put-in-pan-able leftovers. You watch the
fridge like a hawk for 2 hours. And when that fudge is set, you don’t even
bother cutting it up.

Hence the 5 kilos…

Happy Birthday TT 2011

Actually Written: 24th September 2011

YAY, another birthday baking bash! Ok so, TT, she is one of the closest friends I
could ask for. And since I know her pretty well, I know of her love for Oreos.
Oreo this and that, there is nothing that compares to a good Oreo for her
(except maybe Caramel Cake…)

81

Anyway, I decided, since there is a cupcake theme going on for my birthday baking
(slightly!) to make her this Oreo cupcakes with a much trusted recipe from much
trusted Annie Eats!

Who needs to go to France?

Actually Written: 11th September 2011

Last night I was having intense cravings. All I could think was chocolate,
chocolate, chocolate. I know you all are familiar with this craving style. Why
else would you be here if you weren’t?

21

Well, I thought about what I could eat, considering I had just downed 3 pieces of
Jamaica Choc Cheesecake in the afternoon. Forgive me for my gluttony, it was
necessary. So anyway, back to the chocolate craving. I then had a memory
flashback.
