I ‘Oat’ To Get Into Shape

Sorry about that pun, but with all the oats I have just used over the past couple of days, it was really coming 😉

You remember my post from Sunday, also known as my last post to date?
You remember how it was all about my new love affair with cranberries? Well, Valentines may have come and gone, but nothing will extinguish how I feel about this gorgeous red fruit. All dried and pink, all red and round – either way, it is my new favourite 😀

210Sorry that really had nothing to do with this post – I was just once again putting out there how much those wonderful berries mean to me 🙂

Anyways let’s go back to yesterday, when all my troubles seemed so far away (that’s a lie, I am talking about Saturday ;)). I had an epiphany after seeing a post on the wonderful Averie’s site and it lef to me making a revamped version of her wonderful Blueberry Banana Microwave Oat Cakes. Why?

76Because I epiphanised (it is not a word mind you)

Loss of My Love – A Muffintopcookiecake Hybrid

Although Valentine’s day was roughly a week ago, I have a story to tell you which I should have told you on that day. It is the story of a girl and a berry. And the true love they found in each other and the tragic consequences that followed. I believe Shakespeare has jinxed love forever with his Romeo and Juliet. A pox on you!

But let me go back to this tale. Girl was at a supermarket. She looked through a hole-y plastic bag which she accidentally (I call it fate really) picked up and through it, saw a little box. And that box had some cranberries in it. Big, fat, juicy dried cranberries. It called to her from beyond its plastic packaging and while the girl was a little apprehensive, she bought it.

310She got home and prised open the little plastic box. And when she truly met the dried cranberry, a little part of her heart she never knew she had opened up and started singing. And the love affair began. She kept it secret though – didn’t want anyone taking advantage of her weakness to the cranberry. And the cranberries remained sealed for everyone but her.

Girl decided it was time to honour their relationship – she created a recipe just to showcase the cranberry and to show how deeply she felt this bond, she made it red and white, colours of love.

Twix-ting The Foodie World

I am not going to play footsies with you today. Today is the beginning of a wonderful, assessment free weekend and I intend to enjoy every foodie minute of it with you all my friends 🙂 (but I would like to apologist in advance for my horrid lighting, I was making these during the night 😀 – I still think you will like them though)

56
After one insanely long post, and one comparatively short post, this post will hopefully be just right and focused completely on the goodness that is dessert (especially since my last post was savoury – quel horreur! Nah, not really :P)

As the terribly punny title will tell you, this recipe involves Twix. Milk chocolate covering caramel on shortbread Twix. The international slip-in-your-pocket equivalent to a caramel chocolate slice or Millionaires shortbread. I can see your ears pricking up so much you may as well be a pixie or an elf 😀

The Twix is a much loved candy bar. So much flavour. So much good flavour. Now, what if I told you I made up a recipe. Very loosely adapted (and that was only the base) from someone else but essentially my own idea which I would like to think as revolutionary without tooting my own horn.

Second Savoury Post

I do not have many savoury posts on this site. Out of the hundred or so posts, in fact, I only have one. But today, when I act like a student with not much time, I deliver to use this wonderful savoury post. The little baker girl is growing up and learning that to get on in life, you need to cook savoury? No, little girl just wants pizza 😀

45A 5 Minute Wrap Pizza. What? No dough. Some simple chopping. And some store bought pasta sauce (I would usually use my mum’s homemade one of course – maybe I will give you that luscious recipe someday yet ;))

Combination Chocolate-y Celebrations

Warning: Before this post begins, please take into account that this post is extremely long, has two recipes involved and has an overdose of chocolate and photos

*****************************************************************************

Wow, it feels like such a long age since I last posted! Don’t be mad at me 😛 – After my last post which was delicious but healthy, sugarless and with a lack of chocolate, I knew my next post had to have a chocolate explosion – and what better way to do that I ask you than by doing a chocolate filled combination post??? 😀

64Willy Wonka: [hands Charlie a ladle full of chocolate] “Try some of this. It’ll do ya good. You looked starved to death!”

So where does the ‘celebration’ part of all this come into play? Well for one, my mummy is returning home after going overseas 😀
Finally, no more cleaning and dusting and cooking – jokes jokes (especially if you are reading this mum ;))

A Third Liebster + A Super Chewy, Super Tasty, Super Sugarless Treat

Firstly, I would like to say thank you for the support shown in regards to my last post. I feel much better now and know that there were a couple of slightly off points in that post. But you (and cheesecake) always make me feel better 🙂
For now, it is touchwood and good thoughts all the way.

Secondly, I am very very very happy to announce that I have received a third Liebster Award 😀
This time from the wonderful Little Housewife – This lady is the epitome of perfection. All her posts make me want to devour the computer screen but I really doubt I would get the flavour of her wonderful baking that way. Kind, sweet and with a fantastic sense of humour, she is like a baking idol!

blog award
To see the rules of this award, you can go to my first award post – not because I am lazy but it is actually quite a bit to rewrite out and my copy and paste is a little hazy on my computer (I actually did not know a problem such as that was possible ;))

Congratulations to all you fantastic bloggers, it is much deserved 🙂

*****************************************************************************

Now this will be a short post with a recipe that I made myself. *Applause* *Applause* 😛

I was looking all over for a healthy muesli bar recipe. I was looking for something filled with nuts, oats and cereals which could fill me up while I was studying and keep me focused (are you not proud) – I researched brands initially but I can eat all those preservatives in store-bought pastry and be healthier! And looking around on the web, I was not interested in recipes containing 1/2 cups of brown sugar and butter. Emphasis on the healthy aspect. So I decided to make my own. And I am pretty happy.

My Latest 3-Layer Distraction

Sometimes there are problems in your life. They are unexpected, out of the blue and you see your security starting to crumble a little. You don’t know what to do, how to act and how to face it because it might be a new problem, one you have never experienced before.

It’s a case of life giving lemons but not being able to make lemonade because they are sour or rotten. Not every lemon can be good I suppose.

When these problems come up, there is always a positive side according to my ma and I know she is right. Like yin and yang, light and dark, with every negative there must be a positive, a law of nature.

But sometimes you just can’t find it. You can search everywhere and try to convince yourself you have found that happy side but sometimes it is just too hard and you collapse under the strain. It is in these cases you must avoid the issue for a little bit of time. Calm yourself and let your passions overwhelm you so they can take you to a world away from reality, an ephemeral moment of peace and tranquillity before you are pulled away again.

Baking Impulsively Means Eating Compulsively

Everyone, get ready to gasp – what in the world is a senior student who has her university life hanging by a thread according to her studies at high school in her senior years doing posting on the first day of a school week? Shock, horror, the world is coming to an end – why, she should be hitting those maths text book which weigh heavier than a computer and bustling around researching haemoglobin or something as such.

Oops, oh well, I think I will survive since I am that senior in question 😉

41You may remember that a couple of weeks back I had a Nutella Baking Week. Good times right? Well, I mentioned that I would be unavailable for World Nutella Day and it was true, I was supposed to be but sometimes things happen and you come home one day too early (she is taking holidays too? For shame! :P) – this was the case with me and finishing all my homework happened first (I am not a complete female version of that rebel without a cause you know) and then even after driving, having time to whip up a little Nutella snack. Well, a snack I didn’t follow the recipe at all too 🙂 – Gotta love impulsive forgot-to-print-recipe cooking aye?
