Nutella Baking Week Continued: Strawberry Nutella Thumbprint Cookies And Homemade Strawberry Milk

“I’m a barbie girl, in a barbie wooorrlllldd”
“Life in plastic. It’s fantastic.”

Barbie Girl by Aqua

Yep, that’s right, Nutella baking week has taken a barbie-fied turn to placate all the divas, the girly girls, the princesses, the fairies and pink lovers in general. There is no place here today for boorish brutes or yucky muck or anything like that – sorry boys 😛

312If you can’t dress in pink, don’t even think!

Why did I take such an extraordinarily pink turn in my Nutella week? It definitely was not because I liked the two recipes this combination post involves or anything and found them interesting. Not at all *sarcasm*…

Feeling Healthy Pre-Formal

Two nights ago was one of the most anticipated events of my young life so far – my year 10 formal. The night was amazing at the beginning I have to say with all the fluttering and giggling and the ‘oh my gosh, you all look so utterly fabulous’ talking! Then, when we actually were inside, we were wowed by the decor – Vegas casino theme = martini glasses on tables, silvery balloon arch, gorgeous star themed light and a scattering of cards, poker chips and dice. Just try to picture it and I promise you, the hall we were in would look at least 10 times nicer (depending on the strength of your imagination of course :p)

Wounded Soldiers

As soon as I saw the finished result of these muffins,n the first thing I got reminded of were soldiers. A little  rough and rugged looking when considering their appearance but so wonderful inside. While these muffins have a soft, butter cake dripping with caramelised fruit juices, the soldiers are proud and courageous with a patriotic spirit inside them. We respect them.

Ironic isn’t it, that I should make something that reminds me of soldiers so close to Remembrance Day (Nov. 11th)? I believe in fate and I like to believe there is a reasoning behind it…

21I found these muffins in the Good Living section of the Sydney Morning Herald a while back actually. It sort of stuck out at me then and now, due to my almond meal dilemma and massive load of nectarines in the fridge, I decided to make them today 🙂

The Monkey Within – Banana Bread #1

I wish to unleash my banana loving spirit (which I believe every human deep down has inherited from our ancestors) by trying to find the best banana bread recipe.

My family find banana bread to be a staple breakfast or snack. We go out – Banana bread. We have a coffee – Banana bread and wow, watch out because when they mix it up, it becomes a fruit and nut bread.

66

In order to satisfy said family, I decided to find a perfect one which is quick and easy to whip up (despite Australia’s horrendous banana prices). This one was the first one I tried and OBVIOUSLY, I got it from Exclusively Food as my starting point.

Blacks Dots In Yellow Haze

What else could it be but lemons and poppyseeds?

There have been many a cake and muffin but when I chanced upon this recipe of cookies, I had to make them. For many reasons too.

46

1. Love the combination of citrus and poppyseed – so light and refreshing

2. This recipe can be easily changed to be orange, lime (add a little extra sugar) etc.

3. The recipe was fast and easy and due to the morning tea-with-light-cookie habit at my house, it would be perfect =)

If you’re feeling passionate… use passionfruit

Actually Written: 10th September 2011

Personally I quite like sweetened condensed milk. It is used in cheesecakes, fudges and even ice cream. It’s very versatile. Like this slice.

55

Lemony but sweet. Crunchy seeds in a soft and smooth texture. I like it. I like it a lot.

Unfortunately, the reason behind this slice is quite sad. No, no deaths, no rat plagues, no lack of chocolate. Procrastination. Pure and simple. A 5 minute English speech will force you to do that. 5 MINUTES!

Fond-[ant]-ly Remembering Christmas 2010

Actually Written: Term 4 2010

At the end of 2010, our food tech class went absolutely nuts! My teacher is brilliant, creative and totally not lazy so she organised a ton of awesome
Christmas cooking activities! Thank You, Mrs D!!!

One such was a Christmas fruitcake (non-alcoholic ;P)
It was such a cute, adorable little baby with a brilliant recipe (we gave the pretty cake to our neighbour so I only tasted the batter – not really a shame)
The fondant rolling, colouring and just general working was absolutely brilliant though!!! It was such a new experience that was messy and all hands-on (a.k.a I
LOVED IT!)

Mr Cream-Cheese Married Miss Muffin

Actually Written: 21st May 2011
My family, especially my mum, was not too keen on these. Only my grandpa and I are
cheesecake fans and mum didn’t want cheesecake tasting muffins with her tea.
But I made them anyway. And the weirdest thing was discovered!
Cream Cheese Muffins don’t give a cream cheese flavour. They simply make the batter
so much better than normal muffins!!!

54

Oh my gosh, the fluffiness of these muffins, the fruity
batter, the moistness made me  squeal with delight like a 5 year old.

Triple C Dairy Competition

Actually Written: Term 3 2011

This was actually an in-school thing for my food tech
class. We entered a Dairy Competition and the group I was part of decided to
make cheesecakes. And this is truly our own recipe! It is an awesome batter,
one orange and one chocolate swirled together served with chocolate sauce,
Jaffa candy and candied orange.

I think we did brilliantly!!!

Cherries, Chocolate and Cream, so much cream…

Cake closh – check; fancy topping – check, taste – hell yes, I mean check =]

My brother had a Uni party for the first time at our house and it gave me an
excuse to create a massive 20cm diameter springform cake (I usually have to cut
down recipes to 1/4 – 1/8 for my family unless no chocolate is involved and
still it’s half – sacrilegious no?)
