Peculiar-But-Cool Habits

Before I begin this post, I just wanted to link you all to a foodie interview I was lucky enough to do on the awesomely talented Maureen’s blog, The Orgasmic Chef!

If you want, you can check it out here – It was such a fun experience and I just wanted to shout out a big thank you to you Maureen for asking me 😀
An awesome experience 🙂

*************************************************************************
Now let the post begin 😉

What do you do that’s a little… off. Do you wear your shirt backwards because you like that side better, eat jam on both sides of your toast and secretly fancy 2 minute artery-clogging meals?

I am so totally not saying those are my secret habbits. Remember I am asking you 🙂

Personally, I think it is awesome to have little, how do I put this, eccentricities which make you totally unique. My family, as all families, are full of them 😀
Today I would like to show you one of my dad’s which he has genetically passed down to me. Parents, sheesh, whatcha gonna do with ’em? 😉

A Belated Tribute: Anzac Day 2012

ANZAC. Standing for The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. A word forever uttered with solemnity, dignity and respect.

Anzac Day. A commemorative day to celebrate those who fought for our country, pushed aside differences to aid each other as comrades so that their nation could forever sleep in peace and safety.

2016 will mark the 100th Anniversary of Anzac Day. Since 1916, there have been parades, marches, assemblies and speeches in every hall in Australia, as small as school gyms or as large as the Australian War Memorial.

Dawn Ceremony

Dawn Ceremony

Anzac Day initially began to commemorate the brave soldiers who participated in the tragedy known as Gallipoli. Eventually, this prestigious day grew in scope, and now celebrates the war efforts of all involved – soldiers, nurses, doctors, carers, the list goes on – everyone who made a stand and helped their country to allow it the freedom we all experience today.

A Monstrous Post

What is a monster? Is it

a)  A big fuzzy cuddly bear which is reminiscent of Big Foot but misunderstood by society because of its size?

b)  A terrifying, vicious troll like creature which lives under your bed apparently?

c)   The inner turmoil one carries inside themself eventually becoming inexpressible?

d)  A cookie

Surprised I picked d)?

You really shouldn’t be if you know me well (Though am I quite partial to a) as well ever since seeing Monsters Inc ;))

3 Ways To A Happier Life

Hi, what am I doing posting on a Wednesday during school?

*ooh, bad girl truanting*
*ooh, bad girl not working her butt off unnecessarily*
*ooh, bad girl!*

Hehehe... Cheeky :D

Hehehe… Cheeky 😀

I will have you know that I can disprove all the above statements.

One: I am not truanting. Though every child takes the odd sick day which isn’t really a sick day, I can’t afford to anymore because we work quite a bit in school. So no, I woke up this morning with a splitting headache. And I’m telling you, I can sympathise with those bog body victims who got smashed with an axe on the skull before being tossed away. Ok, maybe not really 😛

Loss of My Love – A Muffintopcookiecake Hybrid

Although Valentine’s day was roughly a week ago, I have a story to tell you which I should have told you on that day. It is the story of a girl and a berry. And the true love they found in each other and the tragic consequences that followed. I believe Shakespeare has jinxed love forever with his Romeo and Juliet. A pox on you!

But let me go back to this tale. Girl was at a supermarket. She looked through a hole-y plastic bag which she accidentally (I call it fate really) picked up and through it, saw a little box. And that box had some cranberries in it. Big, fat, juicy dried cranberries. It called to her from beyond its plastic packaging and while the girl was a little apprehensive, she bought it.

310She got home and prised open the little plastic box. And when she truly met the dried cranberry, a little part of her heart she never knew she had opened up and started singing. And the love affair began. She kept it secret though – didn’t want anyone taking advantage of her weakness to the cranberry. And the cranberries remained sealed for everyone but her.

Girl decided it was time to honour their relationship – she created a recipe just to showcase the cranberry and to show how deeply she felt this bond, she made it red and white, colours of love.

Baking Impulsively Means Eating Compulsively

Everyone, get ready to gasp – what in the world is a senior student who has her university life hanging by a thread according to her studies at high school in her senior years doing posting on the first day of a school week? Shock, horror, the world is coming to an end – why, she should be hitting those maths text book which weigh heavier than a computer and bustling around researching haemoglobin or something as such.

Oops, oh well, I think I will survive since I am that senior in question 😉

41You may remember that a couple of weeks back I had a Nutella Baking Week. Good times right? Well, I mentioned that I would be unavailable for World Nutella Day and it was true, I was supposed to be but sometimes things happen and you come home one day too early (she is taking holidays too? For shame! :P) – this was the case with me and finishing all my homework happened first (I am not a complete female version of that rebel without a cause you know) and then even after driving, having time to whip up a little Nutella snack. Well, a snack I didn’t follow the recipe at all too 🙂 – Gotta love impulsive forgot-to-print-recipe cooking aye?

Chocolate Chip Baking Week 10: Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is warning: For those looking for another ice cream machine using, creamy, dreamy dessert in this post, let me promptly link you to here. For those looking for a recipe that is quite out of the ordinary, please stay and read on 🙂 When I found this recipe on Picky Palate, I was intrigued for sure but definitely not surprised since fabulous food blogger Jenny comes up with random, delicious creations all the time! Looking through this recipe, she basically omitted some sugar and purposely lacked some liquid-y ingredients in order to make way for the batter to include a nice big heap of ice cream in it. Yes, imagine eating cool and refreshing and creamy ice cream but in dough form. 319Sounds heavenly? Tastes heavenly – something I should know by the many spoonfuls small tastes I sneaked throughout the stirring and mixing process. Continue reading

Chocolate Chip Baking Week 9: Chocolate Chip Cookie Milkshake (Thickshake)

I got the idea from here – those are some talented and creative cooks at Two Peas & Their Pod! But that is where the similarities end between my milkshake creation and theirs… and that is a good thing for me 😛

Let me put one thing straight – I cannot consider this a milkshake. This is a THICKSHAKE. My straw was having trouble slurping this up so I basically ended up scooping it out and eating it with a spoon – and it was so worth it! Vying for the ‘Most Creative Chocolate Chip Dough/Cookie’ section winner, I can’t say this beats that double chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream (perhaps since I am a little partial to ice cream…) but it came very close.

118See, I was a little apprehensive about this shake. Ever tried Max Brenner’s Cookie Shake? It tastes like Oreo cookies crumbled and drowned in a porridge consisting of rolled oats, weetbix and that gross Up ‘n’ Go! *Shudders*

Chocolate Chip Baking Week 8: Malted Milk Powder Chocolate Chip Cookies

117
I know it says published 19th December but here in Aus it is the 20th – how time travel style, Doctor Who cool is that!

Sorry, but being the child I am, I sometimes have to let all my pent up festive excitement out (as seen through the way I devour fruit mince pies, tear open presents in a frenzy, adore the secrets of Kris Kringle and love watching Christmas themed reruns of Sabrina the Teenage Witch…)

Back to the post now…

216What is malted milk powder? On stumbling on this chocolate chip cookie recipe, that was the first thing that hit me. See, Australia is kind of a baking goods hole a.k.a you can find no toffee chips, or Reese’s special hot fudge topping etc. unless you go to specialty shops in the city or further beyond. No wonder I had never heard of this thing before!
